“If they know what this is doing to them, why can’t they just stop?”

It’s a question our admissions team hears often from families. The short answer is that repeated substance use changes the brain’s reward system and neural pathways over time. Expecting someone to simply choose to stop does not account for the changes taking place in the brain during addiction.

As a Clinical Outreach Representative at Plum Creek Recovery Ranch, Georgia Thompson focuses on cultivating intentional relationships with community professionals, families, and healthcare providers to ensure a smooth, supported transition into care.

Having walked her own path through addiction and long-term recovery, Georgia knows firsthand the impact of finding the right help at the right time. Today, she also owns and operates local women’s sober living homes, giving her a practical, firsthand understanding of what it takes to help individuals transition from treatment back into a thriving life.

She is deeply passionate about empowering families and individuals to navigate the complex journey of recovery. By guiding others through these initial steps, she enables families to begin rebuilding their lives with dignity and hope.

Her outreach leadership is grounded in heartfelt dedication, lived experience, and an unwavering belief in the transformative power of accessible, high-quality treatment.
