We treat all our patients as if they were members of our own family. They are part of our clinic family. We are thankful we are here.

"If I wasn't able to be seen at the free clinic, I don't know where I would be right now. Without the medications I need, I may not be here. When I call the clinic, I know they are going to do everything in their power to get me what I need, and I could not be more grateful.”

Rather than patients having to navigate fragmented systems, free clinics bring medical, dental, specialized care, and pharmacy services together under one roof. This holistic approach ensures that a patient's diverse health needs are treated collaboratively, preventing complex conditions from worsening and keeping patients out of emergency rooms.

That number is expected to grow as current and looming federal healthcare changes lead Virginians to drop or lose their insurance.

Good health is the foundation for stable employment, education, and the social connections that support positive mental health. Virginia’s free and charitable clinics serve as an essential statewide safety net, providing accessible, comprehensive, and high-quality preventative and chronic care. By acting as an efficient medical home for the Commonwealth's underserved, these clinics keep uninsured individuals healthy and thriving while simultaneously reducing unnecessary emergency room visits and avoidable hospital readmissions.

Thank you!

The Virginia Association of Free & Charitable Clinics is happy to share that an annual increase of $5 million to support free and charitable clinics’ delivery of health care services to Virginia’s uninsured population was included in the state budget which become law earlier this week. This additional support is critical to alleviating a portion of the financial strain clinics are experiencing due to rising healthcare costs and increased patient demand which will greatly accelerate over the next few years as a result of federal changes.

On behalf of our member free and charitable clinics, the VAFCC wishes to share its sincere appreciation to Virginia’s lawmakers and our partners for their efforts to help us successfully achieve this critical increase in state funding.

Thank you.

Thank you.

One year ago, the sudden closure of a key pharmacy partner put medication access at risk for thousands of Virginians. Today, thanks to free clinics stepping up across the state, that lifeline is back — stronger and more resilient than before.

New research proves what we’ve always known: lower costs mean better health.

A new study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) found that when Medicare capped out-of-pocket drug costs, it gave patients the financial relief they needed to stay on track with their daily medications.

Here is why this matters:

• +5.5% Adherence Boost: Making medicine affordable led to a 5.5 percentage point increase in consistent medication use—preventing an estimated 70,000 low-income seniors from skipping doses.

• Validating Our Mission: When you remove the price tag, compliance goes up. This data directly backs the Rx Partnership model of providing free chronic disease medications to vulnerable Virginians.

• Bridging the Information Gap: Many patients don't realize financial relief exists. This highlights our vital work with local clinic partners to ensure families know they have a reliable, cost-free pathway to their prescriptions.

Cost should never dictate care. We are proud to continue bridging this gap across Virginia, ensuring that access to life-saving medication is a right, not a luxury.

Our Dental Clinic opened its doors in May 2021, providing the only free dental care services within a 25-mile radius. Access to dental care is an essential part of overall health and well-being. Oral health is closely connected to medical health, with untreated dental problems potentially contributing to pain, infection, difficulty eating, and complications related to conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic illnesses. By providing free dental services, we help improve not only our patients' oral health but also their overall quality of life and long-term health outcomes.
