Every year the 3rd week in May is dedicated to EMS and all of the care providers along with the community that supports them. This year May 17th - 23rd is dedicated National EMS Week.
During this week we have a number of events going on. Ambulance tours for all of the schools, open houses, trainings for our members, and general celebration of all of our staff.
Each day during the week has a special theme.
Sunday: Health, Wellness, and Resilience Day. Promoting the health, wellness, and resilience of EMS professionals and patients. Recognizing the care and health of EMS professionals, an opportunity for us to take a step back and take care of ourselves in order to take care of our patients better.
Monday: Education Day. Highlighting all public education programs, community educational programs, and the continuing of our EMS education. Did you know Lodi EMS has a monthly meeting with its members to work on skill and learn new ones? Many times, including doctors to help!
Tuesday: EMS Safety Day. Inherently this job isn't always the safest for us, we take Tuesday to promote safety for us, the patient, and the public. Focusing on risk and prevention, like car seats and seat belts!
Wednesday: EMS for Children Day. We take special care in our pediatric patients. They're not just tiny adults, they react, adapt, and change differently than adults do. We use Wednesday to highlight the special needs of caring for children when we have those calls.
Thursday: Save a life day. We are doing great strides here in Lodi to get more accessible CPR classes along with Stop The Bleed. All of the things you learn in the classes are critical lifesaving skills. We encourage all of you to reach out and learn more about taking a CPR class.
Friday: EMS Recognition Day. Although the whole week in general is to recognize our EMS providers, Friday specifically is for that. Recognizing all of Lodi EMS responders who show up every day at every hour to help our wonderful community and go above and beyond for it. If you see one of our responders out and about take a moment to thank them. We do this job unwavering but with many sacrifices.
Saturday: EMS Remembrance Day. At the end we don't want to forget those who came before us. Those who dedicated their lives to helping others, the change they made to EMS, and the ultimate sacrifice they made. We want to honor their memory and everything they did. We will never forget who came before us.
We hope you all will enjoy and celebrate this week with us! We thank all of you for continuing to support us and show up every time. We wish you all the best!
