Recovery Group of Southern West Virginia

The Recovery Group of Southern WV is a community based group dedicated to the recovery of addicts. We operate two Level 3 Substance Use Recovery Residences

The Recovery Group of Southern West Virginia is dedicated to bringing the message and reality of hope, healing and life restoration to those who are suffering from addiction in Southern West Virginia. We are a community based group offering faith based recovery programs, capitalizing on the wisdom of those who have walked the road from addiction to freedom. We are focused on showing compassion to

those who find themselves in slavery to something they never imagined could actually control their lives! We are a recognized 501c3 charity that offers a 12 Step, Christ Centered program for anyone suffering from addiction of any kind, depression, anger, etc. or for anyone that has loved ones that want to get better informed to be able to help. As a 501c3 charity we have an independent Board of Directors made up of local pastors, Registered Nurses, Business leaders, and individuals who have literally walked the road to real recovery! Join us for our 13th Annual Recovery Walk, held in partnership with Save a Life Day, as we honor those in recovery, remember those we have lost, and stand together to bring hope to individuals and families throughout our communities.

What an incredible day for the Recovery Group of Southern West Virginia here in Logan with the Health Right Mobile Teaching Kitchen! 🥭🌮

We are so grateful they came out to spend the afternoon with us. Not only did we learn a ton about healthy eating and making better choices, but they also provided blood pressure checks, weight measurements, and individualized BMI reports so everyone could better understand their health categories.

We had 25 participants attend, plus a couple of community members who were curious about the mobile unit - and of course, we welcomed them in. We always include others, and today was a perfect example of community spirit.

The Mobile Teaching Kitchen team also shared additional recipes to take with us and we enjoyed delicious Flaco Tacos with Mango Salsa during the demonstration. A huge hit!

We are so grateful for their partnership, kindness and hands-on education. Their staff made the day memorable, meaningful and full of fun. We have shared photos from today’s event below - so many great moments! ♥️

We also want to express our gratitude to the Word of Life Church for all of their assistance with today’s event and the use of their facilities.

During the July 6th - Logan County Commission meeting, Delegate Margitta Mazzocchi presented a $5,000 award from the Local Economic Development Assistance Grant, to the Recovery Group of Southern West Virginia.

Executive Director, Joseph McComas and Board Secretary/Treasurer, Dwight Neal, were on hand to accept this generous award.

This gift is more than a financial contribution - it is a powerful step in creating a welcoming environment for the women we serve.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to Delegate Margitta Mazzocchi, Governor Patrick Morrisey, Logan County Commission and the Local Economic Development Assistance Grant Program for believing in our mission and making this transformation possible. Your support not only addresses immediate needs but also sends a message of hope and care to the women in our community.

This project is just one of many ways we continue to work toward a future where every woman has the opportunity to thrive.

🌲Six Program Participants, Countless Skills and One Big Achievement! 🌲

We are celebrating 6 incredible program participants who are nearing completion of a six week, five-days-a-week training course with Coalfield Development in Forestry & Trail Maintenance - they have earned an impressive list of certifications along the way:

✅ OSHA 10
✅ First Aid & CPR
✅ Wilderness Emergency First Aid
✅ Chainsaw Safety
✅ North Star Digital Literacy
✅ HAZMAT
Among others!

Beyond the classroom, participants gained hands-on job training in:

🌿 Forestry Skills
🚶‍♀️ Trail Maintenance
💧 Flood Damage Remediation

Their hard work not only builds personal skills but also strengths our community’s resilience and nature spaces.
