"Hear" with your skin? What???
Sound is experienced through your skin as pressure waves that are created by the sound
If you have ever been to a concert with a loud sound system, you have probably experienced a more intense version of this!
Our bodies are also roughly 60 - 75% water, and sound waves move 4x faster through water than they do through air 🌬
So when you are at that same concert, or experiencing a sound bath or gong bath, the physical sensations you feel are partly due to how the pressure waves of the sound are "heard" by your skin, and by how the sound moves through the water in your body!
What did you think of this week's Science of Sound episode?
Did you even know sound bathing was rooted in science, or were you skeptical and thinking it was too "woo woo"?
