Today, October 1st, we celebrate the International Day of Older Persons, a special day dedicated to honoring and appreciating the wisdom, contributions, and life experiences of older adults in our communities.
At Sahara, we are proud to support older adults every day by providing compassionate care, respect, dignity, and companionship. Each client we serve has a unique story and a lifetime of experiences that deserve to be valued and celebrated.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Ms. Farwa Qamar, who brought this wonderful idea forward and took the initiative to make this celebration meaningful. I also sincerely appreciate Halima, Amra, Jayshreben, Yoena, and Jennifer for supporting Farwa, helping create the beautiful poster, and contributing their time and efforts to make this initiative a success.

This is what teamwork at Skokie is all about—sharing ideas, supporting one another, and coming together to make a difference.

What happens when two 17-year-olds spend their summer volunteering at a home care agency? They learn about communication, time management, teamwork, attention to detail…and how NOT to use the office scanner. 😂

On the newest episode of The Sahara Podcast, Eliya Rizvi sits down with our summer volunteers, Wali and Eshan, to hear about their experience at Sahara Home Care.

They’re sharing what surprised them about home care, the skills they’ll take with them into the future, their funniest office moments, and why they’d recommend volunteering at Sahara to other young people. 🌟
