This Thursday, we focus on FORGIVENESS.
Join us at 6:30pm at Regency Cinema in London.
FREEDOM TO FORGIVE
At this year’s Celebrate Recovery Summit, Jeni Baker shared a powerful message about forgiving from a place of freedom.
Forgiveness doesn’t mean what happened was okay. It doesn’t erase the hurt or pretend the offense didn’t matter. Biblical forgiveness is a merciful decision to release the debt and choose not to retaliate in anger.
Jeni reminded us:
“Mercy is at the center of biblical forgiveness.”
There is also a big difference between saying, “I have to forgive” and realizing, “I am free to forgive.”
Jesus doesn’t call us to forgive because we are afraid He won’t forgive us. We forgive because we have already experienced His mercy, grace, and forgiveness.
“Jesus forgives us from a place of freedom so we can forgive others from a place of freedom.” — Jeni Baker
For some of us, forgiveness may be part of our recovery journey today. It may take prayer, time, healthy boundaries, and walking alongside our sponsor and accountability partners. Forgiveness doesn’t always mean reconciliation or restored trust, but it can mean refusing to let the hurt keep our hearts captive.
Jesus has shown us mercy. Through Him, we can learn to extend mercy to others and keep walking toward freedom.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for the mercy and forgiveness You have given us. Help us release the hurts and offenses we continue to carry. Give us the strength to forgive from a place of freedom rather than fear, and continue Your healing work in our hearts. Amen.
