Southern KY AHEC is at Whitley County High School all day with Mrs. DeeDee Bishop’s health science classes.

Students are learning how AHEC can be a resource for them throughout high school and college, exploring our pipeline programs, and getting hands-on experience with an introductory suturing activity.

We’re excited to connect with these students and help them explore the many opportunities available to them in healthcare!

Proposals are now being accepted for the 2026-27 Healthy WAY Program at the University of Kentucky Center of Excellence in Rural Health.

Healthy WAY (Wellness in All Youth) is a leadership development and research training program for rural Kentucky high school students.

Student-led teams will have the opportunity to work on projects that address issues affecting youth health and well-being at the school and community levels.

Project funding, hands-on research experience, technical support, and research mentoring are available to student teams selected for this competitive program. Up to four schools will be selected for 2026-27.
