Authenticity is woven into the fabric of life at The Baldwin, and we seek to show that through the images we share on our website, in our viewbook, and in other materials we create. The vast majority of pictures you'll see are taken at our community, and show real residents enjoying their active, vibrant lives. Whether it's independent living or assisted living, the genuine relationships, welcoming culture, and dynamic lifestyle you notice are exactly what you’ll find when you visit in person. Plus, you’re likely to meet many of the resident “models” who have so graciously allowed us to drop in and capture the action.

We recently conducted another photo shoot at The Baldwin and Orchard Inn, and we’re excited to share these behind-the-scenes looks at the team in action along with some of the images they shot. We hope you enjoy seeing them as much as we enjoy bringing them to you.

Today is the day to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It’s a spirit we fully support at The Baldwin, where residents exercise their freedoms every day. Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Gardening has long been recognized as an activity that offers a variety of benefits for whole-person wellness. But did you know that allotment gardening like that practiced at The Baldwin adds even more health benefits? In allotment gardening, individuals grow their own gardens in a specified area. At The Baldwin, residents have the opportunity to create a personal garden in one of the raised beds in the common green area behind building E. In addition, some residents take care of the planters at the front entrance, others tend to the Founders’ Orchard, and you’ll even see container gardens and porch-rail boxes adorning many patios and balconies around our campus. Residents of our Orchard Inn assisted living and memory support households also have the ability to garden in planters on their household terraces.

The added benefits specific to allotment gardening center around the opportunities for social connection. Allotments act as community hubs where gardeners get to know their neighbors, share knowledge, admire each other’s gardens, and even trade produce. And strengthened social connections have been found to provide measurable benefits including significantly reduced stress, anxiety and depression; reduced inflammation; improved immune function; and lower levels of chronic conditions — all of which lead to longer, healthier, happier lives.

The outdoor terrace at Orchard Inn is awash in color. Marigolds, petunias, tomato plants, and more are flourishing thanks to residents who have been tending to container gardens since spring. It’s a great way for residents to engage with others, participate in an activity they enjoy, and gain a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

At Orchard Inn, a dedicated activities director plans daily opportunities for residents to enjoy based on their interests. So, whether residents want to exercise their green thumbs, lend a hand preparing meals, get creative with an arts project, or participate in any of The Baldwin's programs, there are nearly endless ways to thrive.

On Tuesday, June 10, The Baldwin was honored to celebrate a very special moment for Orchard Inn resident Carolann. For more than a year, Carolann worked tirelessly to obtain replicas of her father's World War II military medals. Her effort and dedication — along with help from the veterans' group at The Baldwin — were rewarded during a heartfelt ceremony when Carolann was presented with the replicas in a beautiful display commemorating her father’s service.

When receiving the display, Carolann recognized and thanked the veterans and organizations whose assistance helped make this meaningful moment possible. Their ongoing efforts ensure that the sacrifices and achievements of our nation’s heroes are never forgotten.

All of us at The Baldwin are grateful to have shared this touching occasion. Moments like these remind us of the service, courage and sacrifice of every veteran who has played a part in securing and protecting the freedoms we enjoy every day.

Residents at The Baldwin gathered on Memorial Day to reflect, remember and recognize those who sacrificed all while serving our country. A group of veterans stood proudly on our stage to honor the fallen and several speakers shared their thoughts about what Memorial Day means to them. It was a privilege to honor these men and women for their bravery, sacrifice and principles. We thank you for your service and the freedoms we enjoy every day.

We recently sat down for a chat with Anne Bajor (bay-jer), the new Life Enrichment Wellness Specialist at The Baldwin and our sister community, Edgewood LifeCare Community. Anne first began working with our communities as a contractor, filling in and teaching Pilates when her predecessor, Nancy Ryan, was preparing to retire. Now, four months since starting her official full-time role in early 2026, Anne is hitting her stride and loves being part of the communities. When asked what she loves most about her job, she says, "It's truly the human connection." The Baldwin was honored to partner with the American Red Cross to host a community Blood Drive focused on giving back and making a meaningful impact. Melissa and Jason led by example and got the ball rolling for this important cause. Their involvement helped inspire residents, staff, and community members to come together for a truly successful event.

Our community goal was 23 units, and we are proud to share that we exceeded it by collecting 24! Each donated unit can help save or positively impact up to three lives — meaning this blood drive may help as many as 72 people in our community and beyond. What a wonderful accomplishment!

The Red Cross team also shared overwhelmingly positive — and unsolicited — feedback about The Baldwin, including the beautiful property, welcoming residents, and dedicated staff. They expressed how much they enjoyed working with our community and that they would love to return for future events.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and supported this life-saving initiative. Together, we are making a difference.
