Residents at The Baldwin gathered on Memorial Day to reflect, remember and recognize those who sacrificed all while serving our country. A group of veterans stood proudly on our stage to honor the fallen and several speakers shared their thoughts about what Memorial Day means to them. It was a privilege to honor these men and women for their bravery, sacrifice and principles. We thank you for your service and the freedoms we enjoy every day.

We recently sat down for a chat with Anne Bajor (bay-jer), the new Life Enrichment Wellness Specialist at The Baldwin and our sister community, Edgewood LifeCare Community. Anne first began working with our communities as a contractor, filling in and teaching Pilates when her predecessor, Nancy Ryan, was preparing to retire. Now, four months since starting her official full-time role in early 2026, Anne is hitting her stride and loves being part of the communities. When asked what she loves most about her job, she says, "It's truly the human connection." The Baldwin was honored to partner with the American Red Cross to host a community Blood Drive focused on giving back and making a meaningful impact. Melissa and Jason led by example and got the ball rolling for this important cause. Their involvement helped inspire residents, staff, and community members to come together for a truly successful event.

Our community goal was 23 units, and we are proud to share that we exceeded it by collecting 24! Each donated unit can help save or positively impact up to three lives — meaning this blood drive may help as many as 72 people in our community and beyond. What a wonderful accomplishment!

The Red Cross team also shared overwhelmingly positive — and unsolicited — feedback about The Baldwin, including the beautiful property, welcoming residents, and dedicated staff. They expressed how much they enjoyed working with our community and that they would love to return for future events.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and supported this life-saving initiative. Together, we are making a difference.

Residents of The Baldwin recently attended a play they could all relate to, “Paul is Forgiven?” by William Zolla II. The play offers a comedic take on family tensions involving a mother’s decision to move to a senior living community. Zolla said the mother in the play was partly inspired by his own mom, who is a resident of The Baldwin. The play premiered in Manchester last month and was judged Best Play in the 2026 Short Play Festival. We’re proud to bring it to our own stage for an audience that gave it a rousing ovation.

As you research options for independent senior living or care communities, you’ll likely come across a few unfamiliar terms. For example, Life Plan Community. It’s a modern term for what has traditionally been known as a continuing care retirement community (CCRC). The name change was adopted to emphasize the active lifestyle and planning benefits of a Life Plan Community.

We hope you will find this guide helpful. Of course, we’re happy to answer any questions you may have about senior living terms and how a Life Plan Community like The Baldwin can enhance your quality of life and provide peace of mind for the future. You'll find the guide here: link to blog: https://thebaldwinnh.org/understanding-the-lingo-a-guide-to-common-senior-living-terms/

Chef Ben, Mike, and Ashley recently hosted a spring-inspired Chef’s Dinner for a dozen appreciative residents at The Baldwin. The multi-course menu highlighted fresh seasonal ingredients including asparagus, ramps, scapes, country ham, rabbit, roasted lamb, and even a poached quail egg. Each course was beautifully presented and complemented with expertly paired wines. Thank you, Chef, for giving us such a delightful culinary experience.

When you need to step away from caregiving duties to look after your own health, take care of personal needs, or travel for work, an event, or vacation, a respite stay can provide the support your loved one needs while you’re away. Whether it’s for a few days or a few weeks, they'll enjoy a warm, welcoming environment with compassionate, dignified care, enriching programs and The Baldwin's world-class culinary services — and you’ll return rested, recharged and ready to be the best caregiver you can be. Some people also find respite stays are a great way to take a "trial run" of Orchard Inn's assisted living or memory support services. To learn more about the benefits of respite care for both you and your loved one, read our blog post: https://thebaldwinnh.org/why-respite-care-is-important-for-seniors-and-their-caregivers/

When Ed and his wife Julie were searching for a Life Plan Community (CCRC), they chose The Baldwin before it was even built. Fast forward to today, and that leap of faith has turned into a lifestyle that’s everything they hoped for and more. Julie plays the ukulele, loves knitting and stitching with fellow residents, and assists with the Zentangle class. Ed served on the committee that formed the resident council bylaws and ran the general store for almost a year. He now enjoys daily walks, hiking, and gardening. He even teaches a juggling class!

In fact, Ed loves The Baldwin so much that he recently made a surprising decision: He had The Baldwin logo tattooed on his arm. “I think it’s a beautiful pattern and it called to me. I decided that was what I wanted to get because I am going to live here for the rest of my life. No regrets!"
