Join Dr. G and Sara for Braincore Back to School Night this Thursday, September 1, at 7:30-8:30pm on Zoom!

We want to teach parents some helpful strategies to help kick off the school year and to make this year the best possible year for these kiddos. We're aware of the struggles brought on by the last couple years and would love to chat with parents and talk about a plan to center yourselves and your families.

The session is free.

Sponsored by Empowered Health Foundation.

If you know a family whose child is emotionally and mentally struggling with the thought of going back to school, please forward them this information. We would love to help.

This zoom meeting is conducted by Gina Calderone, Trauma informed Doctor of Physical Therapy and Sara Gonzalez, Trauma Informed Life Coach and Behavior Therapist.

Please DM or email Gina at [email protected] for inquiries and to register.

“On most days how do you feel?” I asked this delightful seven year old boy.

“Can I pick two?” He asked.

“Sure,” I said.

“Joy and trust. But I love feeling surprised too!” He smiled.

“What else do you feel?” I purposely questioned looking for a lower emotion.

“Well, sadness.” He stated.

🎯 I thought.

“What makes you sad?” I asked.

“Things that don’t live very long. Like butterflies and lizards.” He said in his sweet seven year old tone🦎 🦋

My heart burst open 💥

And then he blew away…

“I want to take care of everything that lives.”

I instantly teared up.
He stopped me in my tracks.
He’s SEVEN 🙌🏽
I had a lump in my throat.

“I want to take care of things that live too!” 😭😍😭

This ray of sunshine is the future. Take a look at his emotional body worksheet. His mind is so colorful and vibrant 🌈🌈🌈 I love the gleaming joy emanating from his heart’s center ☀️☀️☀️I don’t worry one bit about this kiddo. His spirit will water so many gardens.

He’s . ❤️

On track to be the most transformative generation there has ever been! 🙌🏽

Our mission at PROJECTbraincore is to teach children, who’ve experienced trauma, to process and manage their stress and anxiety by powerfully connecting to their bodies through physical movement and mindfulness. Over one hour, in small age-level groups, children will be given a physical outlet utilizing basic exercise equipment and meditation techniques—in a fun and engaging environment. Through simple movements that focus on core strength, balance and coordination, we help children to feel strong, confident, safe and grounded in their physical bodies. We’ve seen the valuable role physical preparation, gross motor skills development and energetic therapy play in reading readiness, classroom focus, self-confidence and the building of healthy relationships with adults and peers. We cannot insulate children from trauma, but we can help them heal, be resilient in the face of future adversity and ultimately thrive by addressing compound trauma alongside traditional psychological therapy.

Please help us reach more after school programs and public schools by donating to Empowered Health Foundation. Link in profile.

Thank you for helping us empower the future of our youth 🙏🏼💙💛

Importance of head control 💡

Rolling up is a challenging exercise! It requires that our head is connected to the core of our body. If the hips/core are not engaged its difficult to roll up.

If a child can’t roll up, as a physical therapist I’m instantly curious if the child crawled or skipped that stage and transitioned from sit to stand.

Being connected to your core allows a child to feel their power. They have confidence to be more of themselves in the world.

We love and want you to understand it’s importance in a child’s motor development and life. Let’s not wait for the problem. We want to set a child up for success 🌟🤸🏼 📚 🧠

We need your help and support to get our amazing program into this summer🙏🏽 We’re excited to work with 250 children (ages 6-9) at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach.

$80 supports one child 😍 The children receive a physical and energetic assessment and body homework specific to their needs along with a ball, jump rope and hat!

Anything helps ❤️⭐️ If you’re interested in donating please use the link our profile for more information. DM with any questions. Thank you!!!
