The SLP Department and Speech and Language Clinic are excited to begin our collaboration with the School of Social Work by having a BASW intern support the well-being of our clients and students.🫂 Carol will also provide workshops on a variety of topics. Our first-year graduate students had the opportunity to meet with Carol and engage in a conversation about mental health, while also receiving stress-management tools and wellness items, such as stress balls and stickers. We are excited about this collaboration with the School of Social Work and look forward to more mutual learning opportunities and support both within and outside of our college. 🖤💛

Our first-year Speech-Language Pathology graduate students at CSULB have officially completed their first week of clinic! 😁 🎉 🙌

After six weeks of preparation, learning, and building their clinical skills, they were ready to meet their clients and begin putting their knowledge into practice.

We’re so proud of our students and clinical faculty professor Kenya Gomez- Tydor and Dr. Connie Yu for their heart and dedication. Here’s to a wonderful start!

🎉 CSULB SLP at the RiteCare Conference! 🗣️📚
Dr. Lei Sun and Professor Kenya Gomez-Tydor represented the CSULB Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Speech-Language Clinic at the RiteCare Conference in San Diego, held September 23–25!
They presented “Essentials for Lexical Development, Assessment, and Intervention” and had the opportunity to connect with fellow SLP training programs across California and RiteCare centers from across the nation. 🤝
The conference provided a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and expand their knowledge in speech-language pathology, literacy, and leadership. Dr. Sun and Professor Gomez-Tydor were grateful for the opportunity to learn from colleagues, build new connections, and represent CSULB SLP! 💛🖤

🎊Congratulations to Teresa Do on being selected to serve on the 2026–2027 NSSLHA IDEA Work Group!🎊

As a Vietnamese American and first-generation college student, serving on the National NSSLHA IDEA Work Group is especially meaningful to Teresa. CSULB’s NSSLHA chapter has played an important role in her undergraduate journey, and she is excited to now contribute to NSSLHA at the national level.

In her role on the IDEA Work Group, Teresa will help plan virtual events that explore the needs and experiences of students with diverse identities, contribute to blogs and educational resources, and collaborate with ASHA’s Multicultural Constituency Groups and other CSD organizations. Through this work, Teresa hopes to help students from all backgrounds feel seen, represented, and supported within the field.

🎉 Beyond proud of our Class of 2027! 🎓💙
Today marks the completion of the summer semester, which means our students are officially one step closer to the finish line!
Over the past 12 weeks, they have taken on an extremely intensive semester with a demanding workload. Through it all, they worked hard—both individually and collaboratively—to successfully complete another challenging semester.
We are incredibly proud to see their growth in knowledge, clinical skills, confidence, and report writing. Every long day, assignment, clinical experience, and challenge has brought them one step closer to becoming competent and compassionate SLPs who will make a difference in the lives of their future clients. 🗣️❤️
This is a tough program, but once again, the Class of 2027 has proven that they are built tough, capable, resilient, and ready for what comes next—externships and, eventually, their CF year! 💪✨
Congratulations, Class of 2027! 🎉 You did it, and you have made us incredibly proud. Keep going—the finish line is getting closer! 🎓👏
