We are incredibly honored and grateful to have been recognized at Long Beach’s Disability Pride Month Flag Raising Ceremony a little over a month ago. 💙🌱

A heartfelt thank you to Councilwoman Mary Zendejas for hosting such a meaningful celebration of inclusion and Disability Pride. We are also deeply thankful to Supervisor Janice Hahn, U.S. Congressman Robert Garcia, State Senator Lena Gonzalez, and Assemblymember Josh Lowenthal for recognizing Sowing Seeds of Change with six awards and recognitions in support of our mission.

Your encouragement and recognition reaffirm the importance of creating opportunities where individuals of all abilities can learn, grow, and thrive. We are truly honored to have our work acknowledged by leaders who continue to champion accessibility, equity, and inclusion throughout our communities.

To everyone who has supported Sowing Seeds of Change—our participants, families, volunteers, donors, and community partners—these recognitions belong to you just as much as they belong to us. Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us continue to make a lasting impact.

Here’s to continuing to grow, serve, and sow seeds of change together. 💚🌿

🌱 Day 3 of Cultivating Young Chefs! 🌱

Today was another incredible day of getting our hands dirty and growing our knowledge! Our young chefs stepped into the role of gardeners as they learned how to properly install plants, test soil to better understand what helps crops thrive, remove weeds that compete with healthy plants, and identify the difference between healthy and unhealthy fruits and vegetables. 🍅🥬🌼

These lessons go far beyond the garden—they’re teaching responsibility, patience, teamwork, and the importance of caring for the food we grow. Every seed planted and every new skill learned brings our participants one step closer to becoming confident young leaders in the kitchen and the garden.

We’re so proud of how much our young chefs have learned in just three days. Their curiosity, hard work, and willingness to try new things continue to inspire us, and we can’t wait to share more of their journey with you. Stay tuned for more farm adventures! 🌿💚

Happy Disability Pride Month! 🌈🌱

Today, July 26, we celebrate the 36th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)—a landmark civil rights law that was signed into law in 1990. The ADA prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities and helps ensure equal opportunities in employment, education, transportation, public spaces, and community life. Its purpose is to create a more accessible, inclusive, and equitable world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

At Sowing Seeds of Change, we are honored to serve as ADA Ambassadors, working every day to foster an environment where individuals of all abilities feel welcomed, valued, and empowered. Through gardening, culinary education, vocational training, and hands-on learning, we strive to create opportunities that build confidence, independence, and meaningful community connections.

Today, we celebrate the incredible individuals with disabilities who inspire us through their resilience, creativity, and determination. Thank you for trusting us to be part of your journey, for growing alongside us, and for reminding us that every person has unique gifts to share.

To our participants, families, volunteers, donors, and community partners—thank you for helping us cultivate a future where accessibility and inclusion continue to grow. Together, we’re planting the seeds for a stronger, more inclusive tomorrow. 🌱💚
