Let’s dive into sage for hot flashes.

Sage is a classic herb that women take for hot flashes during menopause. (Hops can be helpful too.)

I worked with a client recently and they told me that hops was really helpful for her for hot flashes through her pregnancy. And it got me thinking.. hot flashes outside of menopause.

It’s been very hot here recently and I do not have air conditioning. 🥵🥵

So I wanted to do some self experimentation if sage would help with hot flashes and sweating during this heat wave.

So far I’ve found it helpful. I plan to keep experimenting before I have a strong opinion.

If this is something you struggle with, you can try sage tincture or cold sage tea.

Sage is very astringent and drying, which could push someone into an uncomfortable state. That’s where blending and formulating herbs come in. Balance it out so it’s right for your body.

The owner of Green Wisdom Herbs, Rekara, and I were talking today about how even if you already have SO MANY herbs, there are still so many more you want to get! 🌱🌱🌱

Why would that be?

It’s because each herb is different. Each person is different.

I mentioned passionflower for sleep. It can be quite helpful for many people.

Well let’s say someone can’t sleep because they have acid reflux and cramps.

Then I might not turn to passionflower in that situation.

Instead perhaps catnip, chamomile, marshmallow, and a sprinkle of ginger if something warming sounds nice.

Taking 1 herb can be helpful. But more often than not, it’s beneficial to formulate different herbs together to match up to a person’s needs and body type.

A few benefits of these herbs:

Damiana:
🌼Calming, but doesn’t make you tired
🌼Moves blood all the way out to your fingers & toes
🌼I drink it when I want to be creative

Black Tea:
🌱Caffeine boost without the jitters
🌱High in antioxidants
🌱Helps with focus

Rose:
🌹A little goes a long way w flavor
🌹Heart healthy
🌹Helps lift your spirits when feeling down

These are just a few of each of these herb’s benefits. One of my favorite things about herbs are, if you drink it for one reason- flavor, caffeine, etc - you still get the rest of its benefits. — A whole new way to think of the concept of “side effects.”

I ended up drinking this tea iced and it was so refreshing!

Do you ever drink damiana, black tea, or rose?

Summer is a great time for iced tea or even just tea fresh out of the fridge.

🌺Hibiscus: A great cooling herb for summer. Sour flavors help cool us down. And hibiscus tastes great iced. It’s packed with antioxidants and supports heart health.

🌲Spruce tips: A not as common herb to have. They have a sour and bitter flavor. High in vitamin C.

🌱Black tea: A great coffee alternative for a pick me up. You get the energy from the caffeine, but it doesn’t have as high peak & valley or jitteriness like coffee.

🌹 Rose: Pleasant flavor. A little goes a long way. Did you know rose also supports heart health?

You can make as a normal hot infusion and then add ice to drink right away, or put in room temperature water and let it infuse in the fridge overnight.

Share with a friend that you’d like to drink a cup of iced tea with. ☀️

The 2 BEST Herbs for Seasonal Allergies!

Stinging nettle & goldenrod contain quercetin, which lowers histamine!

They can be drunk as tea or taken as tinctures. I prefer tea, but that is my personal preference- tinctures or even freeze-dried capsules can bring relief to allergy symptoms.

I find them most helpful when taken daily.

There are so many herbs that you can take to help you sleep.

Mugwort isn’t usually the only herb I’d recommend, but it finds its way into many nighttime blends for a lot of my clients.

Do you struggle falling asleep? Have you ever tried herbs to help?

If you have daily stress or anxiety… have you ever tried tulsi?

It’s a gentle nervine: calms nervous system

It’s an adaptogen: helps body handle stress when drunk consistently

And it tastes good!

Have you ever tried tulsi?
