Weill Cornell Medicine Englander Institute for Precision Medicine

Weill Cornell Medicine Englander Institute for Precision Medicine The EIPM is a translational research hub that opened under the direction of renowned pathologist and prostate cancer expert Dr. Mark Rubin in 2013.

The Englander Institute for Precision Medicine is a large multi-disciplinary institute that uses precision medicine technologies, AI and informatics to uncover the molecular mechanisms of disease and individualize disease treatment and prevention. EIPM's Director is Olivier Element, Ph.D. and his team includes clinicians, basic scientists, pathologists, molecular biologists, and computational biol

ogists. These physician-scientists are directing their collective expertise and wealth of knowledge to pinpoint the molecular underpinnings of disease and spur the discovery of novel therapies.

“This is one step toward our goal, which is not to design a drug that is supposed to work for a million patients or a thousand patients, but to design one that is customized to one unique patient,” said EIPM's Olivier Elemento, Ph.D. on his Nature Communications paper.

A team of Weill Cornell Medicine investigators has developed a computer model that will help scientists more efficiently develop protein-destroying therapies, a newer type of treatment that is particularly promising for cancer. The studywas published July 13 in Nature Communications.

Check out "Role of orphan G protein-coupled receptor in cell multicellular organization and collective invasion," in the latest edition of the British Journal of Cancer () by our EIPM Director Olivier Elemento, PhD (), Bhavneet Bhinder, MS () & colleagues!

G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are the largest class of membrane-bound receptors and are emerging as targets for the effective treatment of cancer. The role of orphan GPCR GPR52 in cancer has not been characterized. Low mRNA expression of GPR52 in breast tumours correlates with reduced overall....
