What Happens in Postpartum Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?

Did you know that postpartum recovery is about so much more than just waiting six weeks?

Whether you had a vaginal birth or a C-section, pelvic floor physical therapy can help your body heal safely and effectively.

We treat pelvic floor dysfunction, including urinary leaking, pelvic pain, pressure or heaviness, painful in*******se, constipation, and difficulty returning to exercise.

If you had a C-section, we also assess and treat your scar. C-section scar mobility is important because restrictions can contribute to pain, tightness, core weakness, and limited movement.

We also evaluate for diastasis recti, or abdominal muscle separation, and teach you how to reconnect your deep core muscles to improve strength, stability, and function.

Your pelvic floor and core work as a team, so we create a personalized program that includes pelvic floor strengthening—or relaxation, if your muscles are too tight—breathing techniques, core retraining, posture, lifting mechanics, and gradual return to exercise.

Every postpartum journey is different, but you don’t have to live with leaking, pain, or feeling like your body isn’t the same.

Healing is possible, and we’re here to help you feel strong, confident, and supported every step of the way.

💪 Rebuilding Strength After Prostate Surgery: you deserve optimized recovery!💙

Recovery after a prostatectomy is about so much more than healing a scar—it’s about rebuilding confidence, function, and quality of life 🌱

Pelvic floor Physical Therapy takes a whole-person approach, supporting every stage of recovery. Treatment may include scar tissue mobility to improve comfort and movement, progressive hip, pelvic, and core strengthening to restore stability 💪, and a guided return to the activities that matter most to you 🏃‍♂️. We also work closely on incontinence management and sexual rehabilitation, helping you regain control, confidence, and intimacy ❤️

But healing isn’t just physical 🧠

The changes that follow prostate surgery can affect identity, relationships, self-esteem, work, recreation, and emotional wellbeing. Feelings of grief, frustration, anxiety, or uncertainty are common and deserve just as much attention as the physical recovery 🤍. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive space where every part of your journey is acknowledged and addressed.

Recovery is not just about getting back to where you were—it’s about moving forward with strength, knowledge, and confidence 🌟. You don’t have to navigate it alone.

✨ Birth prep is so much more than packing your hospital bag. ✨

As a pelvic floor physical therapist, birth prep is about helping your body feel strong, informed, and confident before labor begins.

During birth prep sessions, we may work on:
🤍 Learning how to relax and lengthen your pelvic floor—not just strengthen it.
🤍 Practicing breathing and pushing strategies that support your body during labor.
🤍 Improving hip and pelvic mobility to help you move comfortably through pregnancy and labor.
🤍 Teaching labor positions that encourage baby to move through the pelvis efficiently.
🤍 Learning perineal massage techniques to help prepare the tissues of the pelvic floor for birth and reduce fear around this part of the process.
🤍 Preparing your core for birth and recovery.
🤍 Answering all those questions you didn’t know who to ask.

Birth isn’t something you have to “just figure out” when contractions start. Preparing your body, understanding what’s happening, and having tools to support labor can help you feel more confident, more connected, and more empowered throughout the experience.

Whether this is your first baby or your fourth, birth prep gives you practical strategies that can support labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.

Your body is already doing something incredible—let’s help it feel as prepared as possible. 💛

✨ Have questions about birth prep or wondering when to schedule a visit? Send me a message—I’d love to chat!

Leaking when you sneeze? Pelvic pain? Postpartum weakness? Constant urgency?

Pelvic floor therapy isn’t just for new moms — it can help anyone dealing with bladder, bowel, core, or pelvic pain issues.

Think of it as physical therapy for the muscles you don’t talk about… but definitely should. 👏

Reach out and ask if you have symptoms you are unsure would benefit from pelvic PT.

It’s true!!! the majority of my patients arrive with shortened and tight muscle muscles versus weak muscles.

Short and tight muscles can cause urine leakage, pelvic pain, constipation, hip pain, low back pain as well as f***l incontinence.

If you’re told to do Keagle’s on a short and tight muscle, this is going to make the muscle shorter and tighter, which is going to make your symptoms worse or not get better at all.

A personal pelvic floor physical therapy assessment is going to give you individualized advice about what your body needs specifically to get better faster.

A prostatectomy can be life-saving, but it’s also a major event for the body and nervous system. Recovery isn’t just about healing the surgical site it’s about restoring confidence function in a sense of normal sea pelvic floor therapy. Please essential role in that process, especially when it addresses the whole person, not just the muscles.

It’s important to consider
1. Understanding the pelvic floor after prostatectomy.
2. Incontinence management.
3. Sexual function.
4. Score management.
5. The mind, body connection: recovery isn’t just physical.

A whole person approach leads to better outcomes.
