Friday night was filled with creativity, connection, and community as this canvas came to life at the Downtown Longmont Summer Concert Series. 🎨

Many hands, ideas, colors, and brushstrokes came together to create something none of us could have made alone. Watching young people, families, and community members contribute their own unique mark was a beautiful reminder of the power of art to bring people together.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, picked up a brush, and helped create this piece with us!🎨✨

Every young person deserves a space where they can be fully themselves.

A place where creativity becomes a language for self-expression. Where challenges are met with compassion. Where strengths are recognized, voices are valued, and healing can begin.

In our newest blog, Executive Director and Co-Founder Amanda Balmores shares the story behind restART studio and the belief that continues to guide our work today: that young people are resilient, capable, and worthy of support.

At restART studio, we use art therapy to help youth explore emotions, build confidence, strengthen coping skills, and reconnect with their authentic selves through creativity.

We believe art is more than something we create. It's a tool for healing, self-expression, and finding one's voice. That belief inspired our founding and continues to shape our work today.

✨ Meet Megan ✨

We’re so excited to welcome Megan to the restART studio team as our newest Art Therapy Intern!

Megan is currently completing her master’s degree in Transpersonal Art Therapy and Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Naropa University. She brings a compassionate, mindfulness-based approach to her work and deeply believes in the power of creativity and self-expression as tools for healing and growth.

Megan has experience supporting adolescents and young adults, including individuals navigating substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges. She has also served as an art mentor with Naropa Community Art Studio’s Senderos program.

Her therapeutic approach integrates mindfulness, somatic awareness, and expressive arts practices to create supportive, nonjudgmental spaces where clients can explore emotions, identity, and life experiences through creativity.

We are so excited for the care, creativity, and authenticity Megan brings to our community. 💛🎨

Welcome, Megan!

Sometimes emotions are hard to put into words.
Art can give them shape, color, texture, and space to exist. ✨

“Inner Landscape” is an art therapy prompt that invites you to pause, breathe, and explore what your inner world feels like today. There’s no right or wrong way to create... just an opportunity to notice, express, and connect with yourself through the creative process.

What does your inner landscape look like right now? 🎨

There’s something powerful about a team of art therapists creating alongside one another. 🎨

Our team meetings are more than logistics and case consultation. We make art, reflect, brainstorm, process, laugh, and reconnect to the heart of why we do this work. Holding space for others starts with making space for ourselves, too.

Grateful for a team that values creativity, collaboration, and authentic connection. 💛

This Mother's Day, we’re holding space for the many ways nurturing, care, and healing can show up in a young person’s life. 💛

For some youth, having one safe, consistent adult who listens deeply, encourages them, and believes in them can be life-changing. Sometimes healing begins not with fixing behavior, but with finally feeling seen, supported, and worthy of care.

At restART studio, we are deeply honored to walk alongside young people as they build confidence, process difficult experiences, and reconnect with themselves through creativity and relationship.

To all the moms, caregivers, mentors, therapists, teachers, and trusted adults helping young people feel loved and valued: thank you. 🌷

May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

And if there’s one thing we see every day, it’s this: young people are carrying so much more than we often realize.

Youth mental health matters! Not just in moments of crisis, but in the everyday experiences of stress, identity, relationships, school pressure, and navigating a world that can feel overwhelming. So many young people are trying to make sense of their emotions without always having the words, space, or support to do so.

At restART studio, we believe every young person deserves a place where they feel seen, heard, and understood. Through art therapy, we create space for expression beyond words. A space where healing can happen in ways that feel safe, creative, and truly their own.

This month (and every month), let’s keep showing up for youth:
✨ Listen without judgment
✨ Create space for honest conversations
✨ Remind them they don’t have to go through it alone

Because mental health is health. And early support can change everything.

Art Prompt: Happiness Collage ✂️🌈

What does happiness look like to you?

Not what it should look like. Not what anyone else says it is.
Just… yours.

Create a collage that represents happiness in your life right now—big or small, loud or quiet, messy or peaceful.

✨ Cut out images, colors, textures, or words that feel good
✨ Include people, places, memories, or dreams
✨ Add drawings, paint, or personal touches
✨ Let it be imperfect and honest

There’s no right way to do this. Happiness can be a feeling, a moment, a memory, or even something you’re still reaching for.

As you create, notice what comes up.
What are you drawn to? What feels meaningful?

💚 This is about making space for what brings you joy. And remembering it’s okay if happiness looks different every day.

If you try this, we’d love to see it. Tag us or share in the comments.
