There was an interesting post someone made the other day that got me thinking:
What is the difference between Magick and miracles?
I think this could be a much larger conversation, but let's start with a simple question: What is Magick?
A simple definition of Magick is the act of turning nothing into something, or transforming one thing into something else. However, I think there's an important piece we need to add: the human catalyst. Magick does not happen without our intention. It requires conscious participation, a deliberate act of will that helps bring the desired change into existence.
So then, what are miracles?
Miracles are typically understood as phenomena that either cannot be explained or are explained through divine influence. They are events attributed to God, Source, angels, or some level of the divine hierarchy. Like Magick, miracles transform one situation into another. They can take a difficult circumstance and turn it into a blessing, change one thing into another, or, in some cases, take emptiness and create something meaningful, such as hope.
So what's the difference?
In my view, there is absolutely no difference when we look at the result, its in the act that there is a difference.
When most people talk about miracles, there is often an underlying belief that they had no hand in the outcome. It was simply a miracle. Glory be to God.
However, in Magick, at least within the lineage of King Salomon, we understand that all good things come from God. We recognize our relationship with the Divine and our role as conscious participants in creation. From that perspective, the Magick we work could also be considered miraculous.
For the sake of clarity, no one within the lineage of Salomon claims to be God Almighty. Rather, we understand that we come from God, we return to God, and that while we are here, we are meant to live as the sovereign creators of our own lives. Through intention, manifestation, and spiritual practice, we seek to bring more light into the world and glorify God through our actions.
At the end of the day, whether something is called Magick or a miracle often depends on whether a human being consciously participated in bringing it about. Realistically, all Magick is miraculous. However, not all miracles are Magick. Some instances of divine intervention come directly from God without any human involvement.
