I offer abdominal massage as part of all of my full-body sessions, when the client is comfortable with it. I believe it’s important to work this central area of the body because it provides so much of our strength, stability and support in nearly everything we do.
The re**us abdominis, obliques and intercostals can become tight or rigid, while the fascia and other connective tissues around the torso can also become restricted from stress, posture, repetitive movement or other dysfunction.
I like to work the abdomen and torso with slow, broad strokes that wrap underneath the body, helping warm up the QL, lower back and upper hip tissues as well.
I usually finish with a friction technique I created in massage school called “the ring of fire,” which wraps up the entire area with a little extra movement and heat. ✨🔥
