It's time for another !
"On December 10th 2026, I slipped and fell backward on my kitchen's stone floor. I heard my right upper femur break when I hit. I was alone in the house and could not move. My husband found me and called an ambulance. On December 11th, my doctor performed a hip nailing to repair the break. After 5 days, I was transferred to the Rehab hospital. I returned home in a wheelchair with a walker on New Year's Day. I was unable to do many everyday tasks, including lifting my leg, walking without a walker, getting into bed without help, dressing myself, putting on my pants and socks, preparing meals, or stepping into my shower. I was unstable. My right leg, due to the surgery, is now an inch shorter than my left leg, so l wear a lift strapped to my shoe. I had in-home nursing care and limited PT until l was strong enough to go to therapy. I started therapy at Ascend around the last week of January or the first week of February. I could not drive, so my husband drove me to my sessions. I used a walker to enter.
Jason Hunt did my initial evaluation and planned out my sessions. I attended therapy 3 times a week for an hour each session for 4 months. I worked with most of the therapists there, I believe, and they are all kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and encouraging. They did push me because I needed it. I worked hard to recover. I consider them friends now.
The recovery from an upper femur fracture and hip nailing is generally 5-6 months up to a year. It is now almost 6 months since my injury, and i can walk with a cane, walk without a cane with a limp, step into my shower, climb into bed, do simple household tasks, drive, and dress myself. I thought at times that recovery would never happen, but with the excellent help of Jason and the team of therapists, I am almost there. I am now doing strengthening therapy, the last bit with Super Slow. I was told by the Home Health people that Jason, Jonathan, and their crew were the best around, and I totally agree. Their facility is excellent with all the needed equipment. I consider my recovery so far at my age a minor miracle. I will forever be grateful to Ascend Therapy. I could not ask for a better result!"
