DRUG - INDUCED PSYCHOSIS (mostly methamphetamine but can be caused by anything)
it’s basically what it sounds like. I want to point out that MA*****NA can also cause psychosis and psychological problems. Just because it wasn’t a gateway for you does not mean it won’t be for others !

I want to say that anyone is capable of having a brief psychotic disorder for many different reasons. This is why it’s imperative to have folks in your family or friend group that understand mental health!

When you’re dealing with ANOSOGNOSIA, ( if you don’t know what I’m talking about go back to a previous post) there is an impairment in their reality so challenging them can feel like a threat to them more so than you trying to explain.
So what is one thing you can do… learn to explain to them in a way that’s not a power struggle. In other words stop trying to be right and make it a learning experience!

Research suggests that 40-60% of individuals with some form of schizophrenia have moderate to severe impairment insight. ( THIS IS IMPORTANT) It looks like they’re being stubborn or defiant . They’re not trying to manipulate you.
They have an illness ( along with schizophrenia) called ANOSOGNOSIA. ( which is lack of awareness of illness). *i know it’s a lot so I’ll stop there for now*
