โœจ Meet Cristina! โœจ

We're excited to welcome Cristina Hollins, LMSW, to the New Rhythms Therapeutic Center team!

Cristina is a bilingual (English/Spanish) social worker with over 10 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families across mental health, education, child advocacy, and community settings. She is currently under the supervision of Dr. Bethany Walker, LCSW-S.

With training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Cristina brings a compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approach to her work.

As a first-generation professional, Cristina understands how culture, language, family values, and generational experiences shape our mental health. She is passionate about creating a space where clients feel genuinely seen, understood, and supported in their unique experiences.

We're so glad to have Cristina's experience and perspective as part of our growing team! ๐Ÿค Cristina is currently accepting new clients ages 7+, including individuals and families.

As we wrap up OCD Awareness Week, it's worth recognizing just how common OCD is, and how isolating it can feel for those living with it.

When symptoms are misunderstood or go unrecognized, people may struggle to make sense of their experiences or feel comfortable sharing them with others. Accurately identifying OCD symptoms can help reduce shame and confusion, while connecting with others who share similar experiences can create opportunities for understanding, belonging, and support.

Of course, access to appropriate treatment is also essential. Exposure and response prevention (ERP) is a first-line treatment for OCD. Working with a clinician trained in OCD can help individuals better understand their symptoms and find effective ways to manage them. Recognizing the growing need for specialized OCD care here in East Texas, several therapists at New Rhythms are currently expanding their training in OCD assessment and treatment. It's one more way we're working to increase access to informed, effective mental health care in our community.

While not a replacement for specialized treatment, our Living with OCD Therapeutic Support Cohort is designed to complement that care by bringing people together through therapist-guided connection, shared experiences, and practical support.

Big news for accessibility in mental healthcare! Melanie and Glory, two of our LPC-Associates, are now accepting insurance at New Rhythms!

Historically, insurance companies have required counselors to be fully licensed before they could even be considered for credentialing, creating another barrier to accessing quality mental healthcare. Through supervisory billing, New Rhythms is now able to accept insurance for services provided by our LPC-Associates, under the supervision of Megan Korthals LPC-S, opening more doors for clients seeking affordable, high-quality counseling.

Accessibility & Quality are two of our core values, and we don't believe people should have to choose between the two. We're continually working to reduce barriers to care while maintaining the clinical excellence, training, and support that our clients deserve.

This is a big step forward, and one we're proud to share! ๐Ÿ’š

โœจ Ready to get started? Melanie and Glory are both accepting new clients! Visit our website to request an appointment and explore your insurance options: https://www.newrhythmstherapy.com/counseling-request-form-nrtc

OCD doesn't always look the way we expect it to. While cleaning and checking are commonly associated with OCD, many people experience intrusive thoughts and mental compulsions that others never see.

OCD themes can overlap, shift over time, and involve things people feel uncomfortable talking about. Understanding these experiences helps challenge stereotypes and makes it easier to recognize when support may be needed.

During , we're helping bring some of those less-visible experiences into the conversation.
