Lake Center Yoga was founded in 1998. We are the oldest yoga studio in central Florida. Come join us!

Nirgunavathi Ananda, Instructor / Co-Director, has studied yoga for 32 years in France, India and the U.S. She studied Anusara Yoga with John Friend beginning in 1998 and was licensed as an Anusara Yoga teacher in 2003. She is delighted to offer the Yoga Sutras and other life enhancing yogic themes in her playfully serious alignment based Anusara Yoga classes at Lake Center Yoga. Sri Ekan,Owner /

Director / Instructor, has practiced yoga and meditation for 38 years in the traditions of Kundalini Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Transcendental Meditation, Sufism, Siddha Yoga, Nithya Yoga and Anusara Yoga. He has studied with John Friend since 1996 and was certified as an Anusara Yoga Teacher in 2002. He has been teaching yoga for over 20 years and welcomes you to the transformative world of yoga at Lake Center Yoga with warmth, love and respect.

Happy Guru Purnima celebrated on the full moon in July!

This full moon represents the fullest state of Yoga, the 8th Limb of Yoga called Samadhi, Enlightenment.

We have days to honor Mothers, Fathers, Love, Birthdays etc. This is the day we honor and give gratitude to our spiritual teachers who support and guide us on the journey to Higher Consciousness.

We honor those beings who have achieved the highest state of fulfillment and who offer their path to humankind for support in achieving the Purnima, or illumined state.

Guru Purnima represents the fact that the individual soul is filled with the brightness of the Universal soul and when we realize that union, or Yoga, we radiate the fullness of enlightenment which is represented by the full moon in July.

The name Gurupurnima is full of meaning.

Gu means spiritual ignorance and ru means destroyer. Guru is that inner or outer teacher who removes the darkness of spiritual ignorance from the heart and illumines it with the higher wisdom of enlightenment.

Purnima means the effulgent full moon which represents enlightenment. Purnima refers to the full moon, but the full symbolizes the mind filled with delight.

Guru Purnima signifies the elimination of all darkness and strife from the mind resulting in blissful illumination.

Happy Full Strawberry Moon!

Happy Full Strawberry Moon tonight at 7:37 pm.

Enjoy as she crosses low in the sky shining blessings upon us!

In Yogic philosophy, the full moon represents the peak of Prana, (life force energy), corresponding to the end of the inhalation and symbolizing completion, illumination, and release.

This phase is associated with expansive, upward moving energy that can heighten emotions and clarity.

A good Yogic Pranayama practice for this week is to breath in long and hold the breath at the top of the inhale for a moment feeling expansive and then exhale with a letting go feeling. Do this often through today and this week.

Physically you could practice Chandra Namaskar (Moon Salutations) to harness the cooling, introspective lunar energy for emotional release and self reflection.
