a few things I do in my practice

Endometriosis isn't just pain. It's exhaustion your body can't explain. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

๐Ÿ˜ฉ Up to 88% of folks with endo deal with significant fatigue. We're not talking "just tired," but the kind of fatigue that doesn't get better no matter how much you rest.

๐Ÿ˜ด 70.8% also struggle with disrupted sleep. And here's the part that's hard to hear: most current treatments (hormones, pain meds, even surgery) barely touch the fatigue itself.

๐Ÿ’ก If you're exhausted and no one believes you, you're not lazy, and you're not making it up.

Bring fatigue up with your doctor, not just pain. It deserves to be treated too. ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ‘‰ Save this for your next appointment.
๐Ÿท๏ธ Tag someone who needs to see it.

endometriosis pain relief after excision surgery โšก

๐Ÿ˜€ the data show that patients generally report reduced pain and improved quality of life after laparoscopic excision of endometriosis

๐Ÿค” however, if this isn't the outcome, then it is crucial to consider other pain generators outside of endometriosis

๐Ÿค“ specialists like myself can work with you to develop a comprehensive plan for your pain generators, which should ideally be done prior to surgery

โœ‚๏ธ how did you feel after your excision surgery?

๐Ÿ“จ be sure to share with someone who is considering endometriosis excision surgery

ovarian cancer.
that's scary.

and to know that endometriosis can increase that risk further?
even scarier.

luckily, there are interventions that can reduce risk, including:
- fallopian tube removal (salpingectomy)
- removal of affected o***y (81% risk reduction, obvious but may not be the best choice for everyone)
- complete excision of endometriosis (30% risk reduction, must be complete)

share this with someone who is worried and save to discuss with your surgeon.

Biopsy or bust.

Even in the setting of no visible disease.

And if you're worried about scar tissue there are plenty of interventions that can minimize this significantly.

The no biopsy diagnostic laparoscopy really should not be a thing AT ALL.

Let me know if you agree or disagree.

endometriosis and ovarian cancer risk

a 2026 study by Bogani et al in Gynecologic Oncology showed the risk of ovarian cancer in the setting of endometriosis (all types) to be 2-5% compared to 1.25% for the general population.

deep infiltrating disease and ovarian endometriomas do confer a higher relative risk but the absolute risk is still low (Bardnard et al. 2024. JAMA.)

the absolute worst.๐Ÿซฉ๐Ÿซ

who else can relate?

07/28/2026

๐ŸŽ—๏ธEndometriosis can affect your bowels, bladder, nerves, diaphragm, or lungs. (And unfortunately that's not all.)

๐ŸŸกIt's a whole-body disease, not a "reproductive" problem.

๐Ÿค“The more people understand that, the faster we can get patients real help.

๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป Follow along for more education that goes beyond the myths.
