Happy 2 Year Anniversary to Dr. Ethan Chen!
Two years ago, we welcomed Ethan to our team as an audiology extern. One year later, we had the pleasure of welcoming him back as a Doctor of Audiology! 🦻🎓

It has been wonderful watching him grow from an extern into the skilled and compassionate audiologist he is today. Here’s to many more years of learning, growing, and making a difference for our patients! 💙

Today, we’re celebrating an incredible milestone for one of the most dependable and valued members of our team, Kirstin Chang —16 years with Pacific Hearing Service! 💙

From keeping things running behind the scenes to jumping in wherever she’s needed, she has been an essential part of our practice for 16 amazing years.

Her dedication, flexibility, knowledge, and willingness to do whatever it takes have made a lasting impact on our team and our patients.

Celebrating Dr. Debbie Clark's 28th Work Anniversary with us!

In 1998, Dr. Debbie Clark joined Pacific Hearing Service, beginning a chapter that would span nearly three decades.

As a former owner of Pacific Hearing Service, Dr. Clark played an important role in shaping our practice and caring for generations of patients. Her knowledge, dedication, and genuine connection with the people she served have made a lasting impact on our community.

Today, Dr. Clark is enjoying semi-retirement, but she remains an important part of the Pacific Hearing Service family. We’re grateful for the years she devoted to our patients, our practice, and the profession of audiology.

Thank you, Dr. Clark, for being such an important part of our story since 1998. We’re so grateful for your legacy and all you’ve contributed along the way! 🥂💙

🍂 Celebrating Our September Birthdays, Ann Mau and Dr. Rachel Appleton! 🍂

There’s something special about September birthdays. Those born this month are often known for being thoughtful, dependable, observant, and incredibly caring. They have a way of paying attention to the little things, showing up when they’re needed, and making the people around them feel valued.

And honestly, we see those qualities in our September team members every day.

✨ Happy Birthday to our September stars! ✨
We hope your month is filled with all the appreciation, laughter, and celebration you deserve!

One of Our Most Memorable Patients in Guatemala: Meet Emely

On one of our final days at Hospital de la Familia, we met a remarkable young girl named Emely and her devoted mother.

Emely had been scheduled for a hearing test in Guatemala City—a crucial step in getting her the support she needs for her autism. But when the test was suddenly canceled, it threatened to delay her access to critical resources.

Not willing to give up, Emely’s mother found out that Hospital de la Familia might be able to help. Without hesitation, they drove nearly eight hours to reach our team.

The test Emely needed is called an Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR), which requires anesthesia and gives a detailed picture of a patients hearing. Dr. Jen Phelan performed the test and Emely passed with beautifully defined waveforms.

Thanks to this test and the tireless dedication of the HDLF team, Emely is now on track to receive the support she needs to better understand and engage with the world around her.

Antonia, a businesswoman in Guatemala, has faced her share of health challenges.

As an adult, she was diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure—major changes that she and her husband had to learn to manage together. Meanwhile, her hearing had been slowly declining, though not enough to raise alarm.

That changed suddenly when her blood pressure spiked, causing a blood vessel to burst in her ear and worsening her hearing loss. When she saw her doctor, the news came with a shock: if the vessel hadn’t burst in her ear, it likely would’ve ruptured in her brain. In a twist of fate, her hearing loss may have saved her life.

When Antonia met our team at Hospital de la Familia, she found more than support—she found solutions and regained some of her hearing. For Antonia and her husband, this moment was more than just progress—it was a powerful sign of new beginnings, reconnection, and an abundance of thankfulness.
