Meet Dr. Suzy Lea Juarez, PhD, founder of HOPE ABA – Research in Human Development & Advanced Behavioral Applications.
For more than 25 years, Dr. Juarez has worked to expand how we understand autism, neurodiversity, adaptive functioning, emotional development, communication, processing time, and independence.
Her contribution goes beyond direct clinical work.
Dr. Juarez has participated in research, university collaboration, program development, professional education, and the advancement of innovative tools designed to support individuals with autism and neurodiverse profiles across the lifespan.
Her work has included contributions connected with USC and UCLA, along with the development and expansion of research-informed tools and applications such as SEVA, CORA, and Ready for ASD, with a continued focus on building practical AI-supported resources for neurodiverse individuals, families, educators, and professionals.
A major part of Dr. Juarez’s vision is using artificial intelligence as a support tool—not a replacement for human connection.
AI can help organize information, individualize supports, improve access to strategies, strengthen communication, track skill development, support executive functioning, and provide families and professionals with practical tools they can use in real-life environments.
Dr. Juarez continues to develop concepts and tools around:
• Individual Processing Time
• Micro-behaviors and emerging skills
• Adaptive Skills Training
• Emotional regulation and emotional agility
• Executive functioning
• Functional communication
• Theory of Mind and reciprocity
• Community safety
• Independent living skills
• Parent and staff training
• Self-determination
• AI-assisted learning and individualized support
Her larger goal is to help create a neurodiverse AI application that can bring these areas together in one accessible platform—supporting individuals not only with behavior, but with identity, communication, daily living, decision-making, emotional understanding, and greater independence.
Dr. Juarez believes the future of autism and neurodiversity support must include both science and humanity.
Technology can expand access.
Research can expand knowledge.
Behavioral and developmental science can expand skills.
But connection, dignity, empathy, and understanding must remain at the center.
Through HOPE ABA, Dr. Juarez continues to build bridges between research, clinical practice, higher education, adaptive skills, and emerging AI technology.
Expanding knowledge.
Creating practical tools.
Supporting independence.
Advancing the future of neurodiverse care.
