Congratulations to the newest cohort of GRAAHI doulas! πŸ’œπŸŽ‰

This past month, GRAAHI proudly hosted another doula training, equipping passionate community members with the knowledge and skills to provide compassionate, culturally responsive support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum journey.

For Black mothers and birthing people, doulas play a vital role in creating safer, more empowering birth experiences. Through advocacy, education, emotional support, and informed care, doulas help families feel seen, heard, and supported during one of life's most important moments. Expanding access to Black doulas and culturally responsive birth workers is one meaningful step toward advancing birth equity and improving maternal health outcomes in our communities.

To our newest doulas: congratulations on this incredible achievement! Your commitment to serving families and walking alongside parents through every stage of their journey will make a lasting impact. Thank you for answering the call to support healthier pregnancies, stronger families, and brighter futures. We can't wait to see all you'll accomplish. πŸ’œ

During Global Black Mental Health Month, we're reminded that healing doesn't have to happen in isolation. Whether it's checking in on a friend, sharing your story, or simply letting someone know they're not alone, every act of care matters.

Let's continue creating spaces where Black voices are heard, Black experiences are validated, and mental wellness is prioritized today and every day. πŸ’šβœ¨

RESHARE from Heart Soul Birth Pros:

The Grand Rapids African American Health Institute runs an amazing doula program, and we were thrilled to train up another incredible cohort to join their efforts. ❀️ This group included two experienced doulas who wanted to go deeper, an Arabic speaking doula, and GRAAHI’s first male doula β€” a future OBGYN. They are focused on improving Black maternal health and we know they will make an impact. Welcome to and the Michigan doula community! You are the change makers we need. Special thanks to GRAAHI and for trusting us in this space. It is sacred. Much love from Jessica, Samirah and Kim

🀰🏾 Timely care can help prevent many pregnancy-related complications.

Every parent deserves the opportunity to experience a healthy pregnancy, safe birth, and supported postpartum journey. πŸ’œ Access to quality prenatal care, trusted healthcare providers, education, and community support can make a meaningful difference for both parents and babies.

🌍 Maternal health equity means ensuring everyone has access to the care and resources they need, when they need them. By investing in prevention, education, and equitable care, we can help build healthier families and stronger communities. ✨
