I was talking to a friend recently about how people pleasing is a form of self-abandonment. This is coming from a recovering people pleaser. If you are constantly putting the needs, wants and expectations of others above your own, you may want to reevaluate whether or not you are having enough self-love. It is wonderful to help people out and make our friends and family happy, when it is also making us happy to do so and it's not to our detriment. I was also reading how a nurse who works with dying patients said that the number one regret people have on their deathbed, is that they wish that they had lived their lives more authentically, on their own terms, rather than living according to the expectations of others. We may think that if everyone is happy with us, then we are "good" and worthy of love, but if we are sweeping under the rug our true thoughts, feelings and wants to fit into some status quo, instead of being ourselves and expressing what we truly want, then we are abandoning a part of ourselves in favor of fitting in or making others feel comfortable instead of ourselves. It can be difficult for some people to break out of their self-imposed boxes because they have been in there for so long, there is fear about what happens when you are truly yourself. I suppose it's easy for me to speak honestly because I am an Aries and it's natural to me, and I also know what it feels like to be cancelled or outcast, so it's not as scary as it is for someone who is used to fitting in and being well liked. But if you need to change yourself in order to be liked or accepted, perhaps you are in the wrong crowd, and anyone who will leave your life because you are not always doing or saying the things they want is doing you a favor. The people who are truly for you, will accept you even when you are 100% authentic. The right people will even respect you more for being honest and open. So, if you are putting your true feelings and desires aside in order to fit in or be accepted, know that it's okay to be yourself. We are all here to play our different roles, if a new path is calling you, follow your soul over the crowd. ❤️🦄💫
