Hot take👉🏼 what’s considered healthy vs. unhealthy isn’t actually about the food or activity, it’s about the intention behind your choices.
Yes, certain foods have health-promoting properties, and physical activity matters for your mind and body. I’m not arguing that.
What I am challenging is this - if your food/activity choices:
😣Come with a side of guilt or anxiety
➗Have you doing mental math with everything you eat
⚠️Are led by rigid rules around what/when/how much you can eat
🏃🏻♀️Are made based on how active you were that day
😴Don’t allow for a rest day
…those food choices are considered to be disordered, no matter how ‘healthy’ it may look from the outside.
If this resonates, you deserve to have a more positive relationship with food. Here are some places to start:
🧘🏻♀️Bring awareness to the WHY behind your food choices
📝Identify your food rules and explore where they came from
🧐Instead of asking yourself ‘what should I eat’ or ‘what do I need’, practice asking yourself ‘what sounds good’
🫶🏻Give yourself permission to take an unplanned rest day if your body’s asking for it
