“I want to be the kind of provider who makes patients feel like this is a collaborative effort,” said CDU MD student Warsan Ali. “Who approaches them with empathy, consideration of how their culture, faith and identities shape their experience of illness and care.”

For Ali, a CDU Sutter Health Scholar, medicine is about more than diagnosis and treatment. It also means explaining, supporting, and helping families navigate the healthcare system.

The first annual Jazz at Drew festival was held on the CDU campus in September 1991 , establishing a beloved community tradition that features local and nationally recognized talent while raising funds for the University.

Today, Jazz at Drew is making its return to campus on October 10, 2026, with another unforgettable day of music, community, and legacy.

The W. M. Keck Foundation School of Allied Health building welcomed CDU faculty, staff and students in 1988. The building remains the home for our College of Science and Health programs, including our psychology, radiology, and public health.

Genetic counselors help people understand how their genes may affect their health and make informed decisions about their care. CDU has created a new pathway to the profession with the launch of a new Genetic Counseling Program, designed to increase representation in the field and prepare students to serve underserved communities.
