Sugary cereal is one of life’s greatest gifts. 🪄🌈
My kids have been more into cold cereal lately and I actually let them eat it for breakfast sometimes. It’s not the best breakfast option…Shocking I know, since the boxes claim otherwise (part of a nutritious breakfast 🚫🙅🏻‍♀️, it’s not.) Since we’re usually not shopping where they can find Fruit Loops, there are some better brands attempting the loops, but even though they’re organic, have no artificial colors, etc., they still have tons of sugar. So, I like to mix half of the sugary cereal with half of non sugary loops.
Do they whine? Yes.
Do they get to have bigger bowls of cereal? Yes.
Do we sometimes just say f*ck it and they can pick out Cinnamon Toast Crunch at Target, also yes.

The goal is to control the things I can, support better brands making less crappy treats for our kids so we can indulge and not feel crappy after, and also, let them have choices good, bad, and everything in between. Sometimes they even surprise me and say “I like the Simply Doritos better than the regular”.

Summer!!! The time of year when basically everything meal is served on a board. This was basically lunch (veg, protein, fiber and fat here), and a big bowl of watermelon 🍉
Most items are from (organic prioritized) and I made my own romesco sauce. Recipe below.

1 12-ounce jar roasted red peppers, drained
Small handful of cherry tomatoes
1 cup raw almonds )I toasted them a bit)
1/4 cup fresh flat leaf parsley
1/4 cup olive oil
1 teaspoon salt (more to taste)
2 cloves garlic
juice of half a lemon
Blend until consistency you like. Put it on anything. I particularly like it on roasted potatoes, but roasted veggies, fish, chicken, mixed with Mayo on a sandwich. It’s so damn good. 🤤

Organic sourdough grilled cheese, cucumbers, strawberries AND Sunkist. Yes. They said it was their dream to drink a soda in a pool. Wish granted 🧞‍♀️
Don’t let perfection be the enemy of the good. Remember to choose real foods and better brands most of the time NOT because you want to “be good” but because you want to feel good. And also, be free to enjoy the things that might not feel so good sometimes. My client yesterday said she loved my 6 week program because it wasn’t super strict and she felt herself making changes and feeling better without much struggle. She even went to an ice cream event and enjoyed ice cream, less than she would have in the past because she knew she’d feel like hell after. But she enjoyed herself, her family and indulged too.
Want to make changes, DM me and let’s talk. 💚🧞‍♀️ I can’t grant some wishes for you too. 😉

How can you increase your intake of the Essential 8 and decrease your intake of the 8 to avoid?
First tip is to start with one meal a day. Try to focus on your mornings/breakfast. I encourage my clients to get lots of greens earlier in the day, so they’re not trying to cram all the nutrients they needed all day, into dinner. Not a good plan for weight loss either. Maybe it’s a green smoothie or greens with eggs. More ideas are discussed in my Blueprint 1 on 1 program and my Sugar Free Blueprint course. DM me or go to my website (link in bio) to look into those programs.💚 @ Los Angeles, California

One of my favorite ways to get more vegetables in my clients is a dip. It’s a common trick nutritionists 👩🏻‍🌾 use to entice kids, but guess what, sometimes us adults forget to eat our veggies too and there is NO ONE there to remind us to eat them. So, here is your reminder from your friendly, neighbor (holistic) nutritionist. 👋🏻
is my favorite non dairy cheese 🧀 , made with real, whole ingredients, cashew and almond milk base and blended with various, locally sourced, fresh herbs, vegetables and spices. They don’t use vegetable oils, soy, fillers, starches, or nutritional yeast. Key, I don’t like most vegan cheeses because nutritional yeast is in everything. It’s fine if you like it, I just don’t. It feels like it’s trying too hard to be cheese, ya know. 🤷🏻‍♀️ So, check them out and see if you can get it where you are 💚 Smoked Cheddar and Joi and French Connection are my favs. @ Los Angeles, California

You have a mental list of foods you’re proud your kid eats, as if you get credit for that choice 🏆 ...don’t ya?
And a mental list of foods you’d rather no one knows your kid eats, that you don’t take credit for 🤦🏻‍♀️...don’t ya?
Thought so. Me too.
I was happy and proud of how little processed foods and sugar my kids ate when they were young, but it’s short lived. Our kids are watching us and being influenced by us, but guess what? As they get older, they grow their own preferences, they get influenced by other people, school, the grocery store, billboards, ads, YouTube stars, etc. So, don’t beat yourself up too much. Teach and guide what you can, keep fresh fruits and vegetables in your home, less crap, and then let go 💫 😘 that’s a chicken nugget in MY hand by the way.

Hey, it’s me. Just a reminder that just because something appears healthy, doesn’t mean it is. This acai bowl was delicious, but blended with apple juice instead of an unsweetened nut milk and whole fruit, so it was intensely sweet and I would have preferred a donut if I wanted that much sugar 🍩. If you’re going to have sweet, make it count. Go get the donut or ice cream or cookies, as your treats. Those occasions aren’t what make you healthy or overweight, it’s the daily hidden/accidental foods we eat that start to wreak havoc on our waistline, skin and overall health. But Jenny, it’s just fruit juice and it’s not so bad, right? Fruit isn’t bad. It’s a perfect package of sweetness, nutrients and fiber ( 🔑 key) to slow that sugar absorption into out body. Once it’s turned into juice, it’s just a straight injection into your system and not good for you. So, eat the whole fruit (not juiced, not dried) and make your sweet treats count. 💃🏻👍🏻
