The Department of Justice's plan to consolidate the OVW, the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office), and the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) into a single grantmaking bureau would weaken the ability for survivors to heal after harm. Congress needs to hear directly from the communities these grants support.

📢 Join IVAT's newest project to promote violence-free living for all!
IVAT’s Bridging Research-to-Practice project (R2P) aims to accelerate the translation of interpersonal violence research into practice through a coordinated network that builds sustained connections between researchers and practitioners, ultimately improving treatment and prevention efforts, as well as victim/survivor and offender services. This collaborative project will translate research into actionable, practical guidance through a collaborative program and network through dissemination of information in accessible formats.

👉 We are currently seeking interested individuals to participate in our ad hoc committee, which will primarily contribute to the Evidence Exchange.

Research links complex trauma and dissociation to somatic and neurological symptoms. Your body isn’t being dramatic — it’s expressing what once couldn’t be safely spoken.

Validation and trauma-informed care matter.

Talk therapy is powerful — but for many people with complex trauma, the body also needs safety.

Body-based approaches help calm an overactive stress response, build regulation skills, and reconnect with sensation in a tolerable way.

Healing doesn’t mean “getting over it.” It often means gently teaching the body that it’s safe to stand down.
