Two people can have similar prescriptions and still be better suited to very different approaches to vision correction.
That’s because your prescription is only one part of the picture. The shape and health of your cornea, changes in your natural lens, your age and the way you use your vision every day can all influence which options may be appropriate.
LASIK and PRK both reshape the cornea, but they do it differently. LASIK treats beneath a corneal flap, while PRK treats the surface without creating a flap.
Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) takes a different approach altogether. Instead of reshaping the cornea, RLE replaces the eye’s natural lens with an intraocular lens. It can be particularly relevant as presbyopia and other age-related changes in the natural lens begin to affect near vision.
The right conversation is about more than a procedure. Reading, computer work, driving, hobbies and your goals for everyday vision all matter.
A personal evaluation with Dr. Seibel provides the opportunity to understand your eyes, discuss what matters most to you and determine which vision correction options may be the best fit.
