Many of you know our prenatal teacher, Alex Blefari , who is on leave after welcoming her daughter, Amber, into the world. Many of you also know Ken McMillan , who has been part of our community almost since the beginning. A number of years ago, Ken was diagnosed with cancer.
This photograph was taken the day before Ken died.
So many of us knew Ken because yoga was at the heart of his life. He practiced every day, recorded his reflections in his journal, and met everyone with genuine kindness. He knew how to love and touched countless lives within our community and well beyond.
Here they are together.
One life just beginning. Another just ending.
My teacher used to say, “We’re all just walking each other home.”
There is something extraordinary that happens when people gather, week after week, year after year—not because they work together or belong to the same family, but because they are committed to living with a little more awareness, kindness, courage, and health. Friendships form. We celebrate births. We sit beside one another through illness. We witness each other’s becoming.
The practice accompanied Ken through joy and hardship. And Ken accompanied many of us through ours.
We send our love to his family, whose care, devotion, and presence throughout his final days were truly inspiring.
The love Ken shared so freely with this community is a gift beyond measure. It remains with us.
