I was so lucky to birth two of my three babies with Lin (Cruz) and Maria (Jax), two magical midwives at El Camino Los Gatos Hospital, a little 💎 of a hospital. They listened, the used patience, and they trusted the process when I wondered if maybe I couldn’t do this. They knew I could. Why? Because midwives trust the process!!!!
Every time I see this picture it takes me back. This birth was PEACEFUL. I felt way less pain (true story!!) and I remember feeling so held…. So much of this had to do w my team… my midwife Lin Lee, my amazing Doula and my husband, who by this point, fully understood just how much of a badass I actually was.💪🥳
What I didn’t know was that Lin & Maria also taught me that birth really could & should look different than the standard practice in the US. They didn’t tell me about it, they showed me by how they practiced. I don’t think I fully understood that until I birthed my babies and I realized how different this model of care actually was. Eventually, I’d grow up to be a doula. 💗
As a doula, what I see in the room with my favorite midwives is magical. 🦄They create safety and trust and my clients feel like they’re both heard and seen. This right here is everything to a birthing family. (And it should be the norm!!!!) If you don’t feel seen, how can you possibly feel safe?
