Happy T H R E E years to Chloe.

Chloe enjoys taking an eclectic approach to therapy as she recognizes that no two client’s needs are the exact same. She creates a warm environment that welcomes all ranges of emotions to exist safely and without judgment. Chloe works with her clients to ensure that they feel safe going at a pace that feels doable and not overwhelming; healing happens one baby-step at a time. She understands that we do not exist in a vacuum and considers cultural, religious, family, health, and educational background. For client’s that find difficulty in traditional talk therapy, Chloe has experience incorporating art, movement, music, and depth psychological approaches. Chloe admires the resiliency of her clients and enjoys celebrating their achievements, supporting through the difficult times, and coasting during the calm.

Join us in today's Mental Health Awareness Challenge

Holding on to things is associated with elevated cortisol, increased rumination, and higher rates of anxiety and depression. Forgiveness research (including clinical work by Dr. Fred Luskin at Stanford) shows that letting go of resentment measurably improves psychological wellbeing, reduces physical symptoms of stress, and increases life satisfaction.

This is especially true for self-forgiveness.

Try this...

Bring to mind something — toward yourself or someone else — that you've been carrying. Write about it: what happened, how it affected you, and what it would mean to release it. You don't have to forget or excuse anything. Forgiveness is simply the decision to stop letting it live rent-free in your mind.

TIP: You don't need to tell the other person. This is an internal practice. Write it, or say it out loud to yourself. Either works.

Stress is a response to a threat in a situation. Anxiety is a reaction to the stress.

Everyone experiences stress and anxiety at one time or another.

Are stress and anxiety the same thing?

There’s a fine line between stress and anxiety—both are emotional responses.

The difference is that stress is typically caused by an external trigger. The trigger can be short-term, such as a work deadline or a fight with a loved one or long-term, such as poverty, discrimination and chronic illness.

People under stress experience mental and physical symptoms, such as irritability, anger, fatigue, muscle pain, digestive troubles and difficulty sleeping.

Anxiety, on the other hand, is defined by persistent, excessive worries that don’t go away even in the absence of a stressor. Anxiety leads to a nearly identical set of symptoms as stress: insomnia, difficulty concentrating, fatigue, muscle tension and irritability.

Have questions, or need help understanding and managing stress or anxiety? Our team is here to help.
