Congratulations to Courtney Wilkerson, BSN, RN — DAISY Award Winner!

There are nurses who provide excellent care—and then there are nurses who leave an imprint on your heart.
Congratulations to Courtney Wilkerson, BSN, RN, who was nominated for the DAISY Award by a grateful patient at our Cancer Center.
In their nomination, the patient shared that being diagnosed with cancer was an incredibly difficult and overwhelming experience. Courtney’s kindness, compassion and unwavering support helped make that journey a little more bearable.
“She is one of the kindest and most caring nurses I’ve ever met.”
The patient also shared that Courtney prayed with them and for them, continually checked on them and showed them a loving and caring heart throughout their treatment.
That is the true meaning of compassionate nursing—being there not only to care for the patient, but to care about the person.
Courtney, thank you for the difference you make every day and for the comfort, kindness and hope you bring to those in your care. We are so proud to have you on our team!

HELP US BRING A LITTLE JOY TO A CHILD IN THE HOSPITAL!
A hospital stay can be hard on any child — especially when that stay lasts for weeks or even months. Sometimes, something as simple as a new stuffed animal, a box of crayons or a sticker book can make a long day just a little brighter.

That’s why Maria Parham Health is holding a Toy Drive for Duke Children’s Hospital from September 8–22!

This effort was inspired by a member of our Maria Parham Health family whose young daughter recently received care at Duke Children’s. During her time there, her family discovered firsthand just how much children benefit from having toys and activities to help brighten their hospital days.
Now, we want to share that same kindness with other children.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
We’re asking our community to donate just 1–2 basic, NEW toys. Nothing fancy or expensive is needed!

Ideas include:
Stuffed animals
Crayons
Sticker books
Coloring and activity books
Other small, age-appropriate toys and activities

WHERE TO DROP OFF:
Collection boxes will be located in the Maria Parham Health lobby from September 8–22.
Drop-off hours: 8 a.m.–8 p.m. daily.

After the drive is complete, Maria Parham Health will deliver all donated toys to Duke Children’s Hospital.

If you’re able, pick up an extra toy the next time you’re shopping. Ask your church, civic group, workplace, school or family to join in. Even one small gift can make a big difference to a child spending their days in a hospital room.
One toy. One child. One moment of joy.

Maria Parham Franklin was proud to participate in the Franklin County Health Department’s 4th Annual Back to School Bash on August 12!

Our team embraced the opportunity to help local students start the school year ready to learn. Donation boxes were placed throughout the facility to collect much-needed school supplies, and our Emergency Department stepped up in a BIG way with significant contributions. A huge thank-you to everyone who donated!

And then came the big moment! Wendy and Maddie put together 100 back-to-school bags, packed with supplies courtesy of Maria Parham Franklin, and distributed every single one at the event — in just 45 minutes!

That's what community looks like.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this effort a success. We're proud to support the students and families of Franklin County and to play a small part in helping our community's kids head back to school with confidence and the supplies they need to succeed.

Our Maria Parham Franklin team was proud to participate in National Night Out in Louisburg on August 4!

National Night Out is an annual community-building event that brings neighbors, first responders, law enforcement, local organizations and community partners together to strengthen relationships and promote safer, more connected communities.

We loved being part of an evening focused on community, connection and fun while getting to know the people we’re privileged to serve a little better. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to see our team!

Behavioral health is health. And meeting the needs of our communities means making sure compassionate care is available when and where people need it most.

At Maria Parham Health and Maria Parham Franklin, we’re investing in behavioral health across Vance and Franklin counties—from newly renovated Emergency Department spaces designed to provide safer, more supportive care for patients experiencing a behavioral health crisis, to expanded outpatient treatment through our Intensive Outpatient Program in Louisburg.

But our commitment goes beyond the hospital walls. Through initiatives like Stomp the Stigma, we’re working alongside community partners to raise awareness, reduce stigma and connect local residents with the resources they need.

These investments are helping build a stronger continuum of behavioral health care close to home—and a healthier future for the communities we serve.
