Owen “Lunch with the Gang” at Mike Linnigs. Steve Johnson entertained us with some Neil Diamond and Tim McGraw today. Steve is the BEST. We even had a few dancers. Come join us next month on the Friday, October 2 at 2:00 pm at the Longhorns on 2535 Hurstbourne Gem Lane. We always have a good time.

Owen Stepping Stones 2026 — what an uplifting day!

We enjoyed inspiring music from Allison Speer and Brian Free & Assurance, along with delicious food from Mark’s Feed Store at Valley View Church.

More than 500 people joined us, and together we donated crates full of personal care items to Shively Area Ministries, South Louisville Community Ministries, and Southwest Community Ministries serving people throughout our community.

Great music, wonderful fellowship, generous hearts, and a chance to help others—I can’t think of a better way to spend the day!

Phillip Reid Berry, 76, of Floyd’s K***s, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026. He
was born on April 4, 1950, in Owensboro, Kentucky, and was preceded in death by his parents,
Patrick Berry and Dorothy (Best) Berry, and his brother, Rodney Berry.
Phil was a man who loved people. He was personable, generous, creative, had a great sense of
humor, and was genuinely interested in the lives of those around him. He had a gift for making
people feel welcome and connected, and his relationships and friendships were among the things
he valued most.
He was a graduate of Western Kentucky University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in
psychology in 1972, and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Following college, he
served in the United States Army Reserve from 1972 to 1978. Phil’s professional life was marked by
leadership, international experiences, and service. He began building his career by serving as
Managing Executive Director of the Fourth Freedom Forum, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization
founded in Goshen, Indiana, that promotes international cooperation through trade.
Phil’s commitment to leadership and service was especially evident through his involvement with
the Junior Chamber movement. Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a global organization
focused on developing young leaders through service, community involvement, and international

Rosemary Works Nelson, age 93 of Louisville, widow of Francis Works and Robert Nelson, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Glen Ridge Health Campus in Louisville. Born August 7, 1933, in Monticello, IL, she was the daughter of the late Allen Aaron and Hazel Bernice (Fulk) Peck. Rosemary retired from Hazelwood Residential and Care Facility where she worked for 25 years as an occupational therapist. She enjoyed reading, playing scrabble and was a member of the First Church of God and Larchmont Church of God in Louisville.
Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Eileen (Leonard) Habermehl of Harrodsburg, Nancy (Steve) Haysley and Marcia (Shane) Embry both of Louisville; eight grandchildren, Travis Grey, Scott Grey, Dawn Wagoner, Tara McRoberts, Steven Haysley, Michael Haysley, Wesley Haysley and Anna Turner. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Grey; two brothers, Allen Peck and John Peck and two sisters, Audrey Fifer and Nancy Winfrey.
Visitation will be from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2026, followed by a 3:00 p.m. memorial service at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.

Joseph Owen Walters, 66, passed away on August 23, 2026, after a courageous health battle. Joe was born on December 8, 1959, in Louisville, KY, the son of Joseph (Joe) L. and Thelma Owen Walters.
Joe graduated from Jeffersontown High School in 1977 and later attended the University of Kentucky, earning a B.S. degree in Business and Marketing. While he was there, he made many lifelong friends including his wife of many years, Lorrie (Logue). You could find the “Blanding Boys” at Tolly-Ho in Lexington, KY having a burger and solving many of the world’s problems. Joe went on to have an extensive career in Sales and Marketing with an emphasis in quality and sales management. Other than being with his son Jay, Joe’s favorite place was the beach. He and his family started visiting Treasure Island, Florida in 1964 when Joe was just four years old, and they fell in love. They returned to Treasure Island every year for over 50 years, steadily growing their “beach family,” either through births, marriages, or forging new friendships. Joe was a voracious reader with an extraordinary ability to retain a wide array of minute details that he used to his advantage with his love of debate.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Owen Walters.
He is survived by his father, Joe L. Walters; son, Jay Walters (Ashley); and brothers, David Walters (Kelly) and Martin Walters (Stephanie).

Charlie Twyman, 75, of Hudson, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026.
Charlie was a one-of-a-kind man who lived life on his own terms. Growing up, he was known for being a little rowdy, earning him the nickname “Crazy Charlie,” a name that stayed with him throughout his life. But underneath that rough-and-tumble exterior was one of the most genuine, caring, and giving men you could ever meet. Charlie was the kind of man who would help anyone who needed it, and he never met a stranger.
Charlie was a proud Army veteran. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1969 at the age of 18 and proudly served his country for two years.
A lifelong trucker, Charlie retired from R & L Carriers. He loved being on the road and traveling, and some of his favorite memories were made riding his Harley with his beloved wife, Cheryl, and his buddies. But above all else, Charlie was a family man. He loved his wife and children deeply, and his two grandsons, Trenton and Liam, were truly his whole world.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Cheryl; his son, Charlie Jr.; his daughters, Cristina, wife Lacey, and Candice; his beloved grandsons, Trenton and Liam; three sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his father, Neulon Twyman; his mother, Edith Twyman; his sisters, Linda Grawemeyer and Theresa Garr; and his brothers, Paul Twyman and Donald Twyman.

Robert Cameron Adams, 92, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026.
Bob was born to the late Annetta (Lemon), and Robert Adams in New Castle, PA. He retired from Kitchen Kompact.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Cameron Adams; daughter, Carmella Adams, and sisters, Cindy, Nancy, and Linda.
Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia (Russell) Adams; children, Carl Adams (Karen), Charmaine Adams, and Keith Adams (Crystal); brothers, George Adams (Peggy), and Bill Adams (Maria); sisters, Janet Davis, and Joanne Self; grandchildren, Stephanie, Ian, Kenny, Cameron, Angelina, Jessica, James, Ryan, and Scotty; many great-grandchildren, and several nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2026, followed by a 2:00 p.m. funeral service at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.
