Started our morning at KY Perinatal Association’s 37th Annual Conference. There were great views, networking and a fantastic presentation and discussion on the necessity of doulas as an integral part of the medical team led by Alexis Crawford and Mary Jolly.

We had the opportunity to take a deeper dive into the many Social Determinants of Health that are contributing to infant and maternal mortality rates, as well as, their impact on education and incarceration.

We also discussed the role of pharmaceuticals in the fight for maternal mental health support for birthing individuals and families experiencing Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders.

As the Founder of ABLS, I’ve only shared my birth experience in intimate settings. SO… In honor of this felt like the perfect opportunity to put on my Advocacy hat and publicly spotlight the importance of being seen, heard, and believed by medical providers & care teams.

Thank you for sharing my WHY. My lived experience is always at the root and center of my work as a Maternal Health advocate, Lactation Consultant, and Health Policy Practitioner.
