🔥 Is it too hot for the playground? Here’s your complete guide 👇
Your child is playing outside. They say they feel “weird.” Is it heat exhaustion… or heat stroke? One you can handle at home. The other is a 911 call. 🚑
🟡 HEAT EXHAUSTION: Heavy sweating, nausea, dizziness, cool clammy skin → Move to shade, cool towels, sip water.
🔴 HEAT STROKE: No sweating, hot red skin, confusion, temp over 104°F → CALL 911. Cool immediately. Don’t wait.
🆘 WHAT TO DO:
→ Move to shade or AC right away
→ Cool them down with wet towels and a fan
→ Offer small sips of water
→ If they’re not improving in 15 min or seem confused, call 911
→ For heat stroke: ice packs to neck, armpits, groin — DO NOT give fluids if unconscious
✅ BEFORE YOU HEAD OUT:
→ Check the heat index
→ Touch the equipment first — metal slides can hit 150°F+
→ Pack extra water
→ Light, loose clothing + sunscreen
→ Shade breaks every 15–20 min
Kids overheat faster than adults. Their bodies can’t regulate temperature the way ours can. This summer, know the signs — because minutes matter. ⏱️
