One of the biggest differences between conventional medicine and functional medicine comes down to this: we don’t assume your symptoms are unrelated.
If you’re dealing with brain fog, anxiety, digestive issues, a racing heart, joint hypermobility, fatigue, and inflammation, you’ve probably been told that each one belongs to a different specialist, a different diagnosis, or a different prescription. But that’s not actually how the body works.
Our immune system, nervous system, hormones, gut, and metabolism are constantly talking to each other, so when one system becomes dysregulated, the effects tend to ripple through the whole body.
That’s why root-cause medicine matters so much to me. Instead of asking which symptom we should treat next, we ask what underlying process could explain all of it together.
In this episode of Resiliency Radio, Dr. Aaron Hartman talks about why listening closely to patients, connecting clues that seem unrelated, and seeing the whole person can completely change the course of someone’s healing.
Sometimes the breakthrough isn’t another diagnosis. It’s finally seeing the whole picture.
