NAMI Louisville made another visit with these amazing kids and had a great activity filled day! We talked about how to calm yourself down by using 3-3-3: 3 things you can hear, 3 things you can see and 3 movements to yourself!

On slide 3 you can see the amazing NAMI Louisville stress balls we made that the kids loved.

And lastly, we made a safety garden that the student created flowers for highlighting places and things that make them safe!

In the month of July, we celebrate National Minority Mental Health Month!

This month is dedicated to highlighting the unique mental health challenges faced by racial and ethnic minority communities and promoting equitable, culturally responsive care.

Minority communities face a mental health reality where need and access don’t line up, with 1 in 5 adults reporting a mental health condition.

Adults identify cost concerns and scheduling difficulties as primary barriers to mental health care, and Hispanic, Black, and Asian adults disproportionately report additional challenges, such as finding a provider who can understand their background and experiences, lack of information, or stigma or embarrassment.

Creating a safe and healthy environment that breaks down stigmas and stereotypes is important for individuals of all backgrounds, which is why recognizing this month is so important!
