Mother's Compass Offering full-spectrum holistic doula support for women through all stages of becoming a mother

(This post discusses pregnancy loss, feel free to scroll on if this isn't the right moment for you.) Pregnancy loss carries a grief that's so often invisible to everyone but you.

If this is your story, recently, or years ago, I want you to know there's a quiet, low-cost space held for you here. No pressure to share, no timeline to be on. Just a place to be witnessed and gently supported, in whatever way feels right for you: gentle womb work, Reiki, guided meditation, or simply time held sacred for you and the soul that came through.

You don't have to carry this alone, and your grief doesn't need to be explained to be honored.

This is what a visit actually starts with, not a task list, a check-in. How are you doing. Not the feeding schedule, not the diaper count. You.

Then something warm on the stove, and a minute to just sit before anything else happens. That's the whole opening. No rush.

Mothering the mother is the job. Everything else comes after 🤍

Pre-mother. New-mother. Forever-mother.

Motherhood doesn't just add a role to your life. It reorganizes the whole structure underneath it. This is often described in cheerful, filtered language "a new chapter," "the best job in the world" but the actual experience is usually messier and more layered than that. It's a genuine identity transition, and like most real transitions, it involves loss as well as gain.

You don't have to choose between grieving your old life and loving your new one. These are not three separate people competing for space. They're chapters of the same person, still being written. Give yourself permission to take the time this transition actually requires; it's not a small one.

Nobody hands you a manual for this part.

The feeding schedules and sleepless nights get talked about. But underneath that is a quieter kind of labour, renegotiating your relationships, grieving who you were, processing a birth (and a whole new identity) with almost no time to actually sit with it.

This is real work. Emotional work. Spiritual work. Relational work. And it counts, even when no one can see it.

On the blog, I'm breaking down what this invisible labour actually looks like, and sharing some gentle tools for self-care and community care to help carry it. Link in bio 🤍

If this is you right now: you are not failing at something that's supposed to come easily. You're doing something hard, and you deserve support while you do it.

Mother’s Compass Holistic Sessions are gentle, grounding sessions designed to support women at any stage of the motherhood continuum, whether you’re trying to conceive, currently pregnant, postpartum, or navigating the identity shifts of motherhood years (or even decades) after birth. These sessions blend reflexology, reiki, and intuitive support to help you reconnect to your body, your breath, and your inner knowing.

Each session begins with a cup of herbal tea and an intentional check-in. This is your time to share what’s present—physically, emotionally, or spiritually. From there, you’ll settle onto the table for a nurturing session tailored to your needs. I use reflexology (targeted pressure points on the feet and hands) and reiki (gentle, hands-on energy work) to support your body’s natural healing processes. Sessions often conclude with a custom guided meditation based on what came up during your session offering clarity, grounding, or calm to take with you. Everyone celebrates the baby. Who's caring for you?

As your postpartum doula, I hold space for the whole transition, not just the newborn tasks. That means nourishing meals, herbal support, womb-tending, and simply being a steady presence while you process everything that just happened to your body, mind, and spirit.

This is what "First 40 Days" support looks like at Mother's Compass. Full details on our website, link in bio 🤍

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Lara, a holistic fertility, birth, and postpartum doula, and conscious bodyworker in Louisville, KY ✨

Prior to becoming a certified doula and a Certified Holistic Reproductive Practitioner, I had a career as a public health scientist. While it was rewarding work, I found myself yearning for deeper, one-on-one connections, the kind that truly make a difference in the daily lives of families.

Then, my sister (an OBGYN and midwife) invited me to attend the births of her children. I was instantly hooked. Nothing on earth compares to the sacred moment new life comes earthside.

My own personal struggles with fertility, alongside a less-than-picture-perfect birth experience, deeply shaped my philosophy. I believe with my whole heart that no one should have to ride the intense waves of emotion that come with bringing life into the world alone.

These experiences led me to create Mother's Compass, a space to support women and families with holistic, full-spectrum doula care through pre-conception, pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. It is my greatest joy to walk this path with you, wherever it may lead 🌿
