We often work with clients who have experienced birth trauma and refer the PSI support group below in addition to individual therapy when ready.

Did you know that between 20-45% of women will experience birth trauma? And 4-6% may go on to develop Child Birth PTSD.

We work with women and partners to heal and validate their experiences when the unexpected happens in pregnancy and childbirth experience. Call 502-792-7011 to learn more about Rowen services and support available!

Your birth experience matters. Your grief matters. And you deserve a space where both are held 💙

PSI's Birth & Medical Trauma Loss Group is a free, virtual peer support group for birthing persons who are carrying the weight of two realities at once: the pain of a traumatic birth and the grief of losing their baby.

You may be reliving moments you can't stop thinking about. Feeling unheard. Unsupported. Out of control. And on top of all of that, living without your child.

This group won't ask you to be okay. It will help you understand the effects of trauma, explore your emotions, and find coping strategies alongside others who truly get it, led by trained peer facilitators who show up for you every step of the way.

💙 Always free. Always virtual. Always confidential.

Welcome! We are the Rowen: Specialty Clinic for Women, serving women on their journeys towards motherhood (planning conception, infertility, loss, perinatal and postpartum) in the Kentuckiana region, with compassionate and affordable individual and group therapy.

We know that the journey to motherhood does not always go as planned. Whether you are in the process of starting a family, currently pregnant, or postpartum, we want to support you.

You might be asking, what is Rowen (pronounced Row-uhn)?! The definition of rowen is a "second harvest in the same season." We believe that beginning your journey towards motherhood can feel like a period of regrowth and becoming anew. Whether your journey goes smoothly or there are challenges in the process, we believe we all undergo a change in our identity that can shift your sense of yourself, others, and the world. We are here to support you along the way, to feel less alone and to know your experiences are valid.

Call us today at 502-792-7011 to learn more! We offer a sliding scale fee and multiple options for clinicians to support your journey. We look forward to hearing from you!

Join us for our online Birth Trauma Support for Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) Birthing People support group ❤️

Led by trained peer facilitators, this group is for any Black, Indigenous, Person of Color (BIPOC) who has experienced trauma (mental and/or physical) during childbirth. Did you feel unsupported during childbirth? Did you feel unheard or felt a loss of control? Have you been grieving your birth experience? You deserve support. Birth trauma is based on your perception of the experience, and no formal diagnosis is needed to join this group. Some common symptoms, but not all, that can occur after birth trauma are upsetting memories, avoiding talking about the event, and having negative thoughts/feelings about the event. BIPOC birthers can also experience trauma related to racism, discrimination, oppression, and specific cultural views and beliefs. This group is a place to discuss these experiences with other BIPOC birthers and facilitators. You can be at any point post-delivery, from 1-week to many years. This group is specifically focused on birth trauma and connecting with others, so you can know that you are not alone, and you are not to blame. While your story has so much value, in this space we will not explore birth story details as they could be triggering to others. We encourage you to reach out to a licensed healthcare provider to process your birth story. In this group, we will discuss the effects of trauma, our emotions, and coping skills.

This group is not for:
- partners or non-birthing parents
- those who experienced a pregnancy or infant loss (please join one of our loss groups for support)

When a mom tells you she is struggling...

Really listen to me, see me, and don’t dismiss me.

Moms are experts at doing hard things, if we say we are struggling- we mean it.

Motherhood is HARD.

When I say I am struggling it doesn’t mean that I don’t love my kids or that I don’t know how lucky I am. It means that I am struggling with: raising little AND big kids, finding my identity after being a stay at home mom for 20 years, and navigating a midlife body and hormones.

When I say I am struggling I want my partner to really see me and listen to me. Acknowledge that this is hard and my feelings are valid. Take a few things off my plate: make/order dinner one night, be in charge of bedtime drama or let me sleep in on a weekend morning. Don’t dismiss my feelings, tell me things could be worse or make me feel bad for expressing my feelings.

For me to say I am struggling means I am at a breaking point. We need to normalize saying “motherhood is hard; I am struggling” without feeling guilty.

I am a good mother and I am struggling.

If you are struggling too, I see you; you are not alone.

XO Jane
