My therapist told me If you're an anxious person, do everything for fun. Go to a job interview for fun. Exercise for fun. Start a blog for fun. Anxiety feeds on importance. Don't treat everything like a life-or death situation." And then it all made sense
Because I've been treating life
like every small thing is a final exam.
One wrong email? Career over.
One awkward text? They're gone forever.
One missed workout? I'll never be healthy.
My brain made everything heavy.
So I froze.
Or I over-prepared.
Or I spiraled before I even started.
But "for fun" changes the stakes.
Job interview for fun means
I get practice, not pressure.
If it doesn't work out,
there's another one.
I'm not dying, I'm learning.
Exercise for fun means
I dance in my kitchen.
I walk because the air feels good.
Not because I have to "earn" food
or punish my body.
Start a blog for fun means
I write messy.
I post without 10 drafts.
If 3 people read it,
that's still 3 people.
No empire required.
Anxiety wants everything to mean something huge.
It wants you to believe
that this one moment decides your whole life.
But most things don't.
Most things are just reps.
So now I try things.
Badly at first.
Laughing at myself.
Because the goal isn't perfect.
The goal is to live
without my chest being tight all the time.
And honestly?
Doing things "for fun"
made me better at them
than trying to be perfect ever did.
