"We are a compilation of mind, body, and spirit, and all of these need to be addressed for us to feel healthy and function as our best self." She is currently working on her certification in Thai Massage and becoming a Jin Shin Jyutsu student practitioner and plans to pursue a certification in aromatherapy/herbalism and obtain her Registered Yoga Teacher credentials in the future. She will continue to take classes to deepen her knowledge and understanding of the mind and body and stay up to date on current massage techniques. Katie loves life and wants to help you love it too by helping you make yourself a priority.

I consider myself a gentle body and energy work/ massage therapist. This does not necessarily translate to “doesn’t or can’t give deep pressure” though. (Ask my Jiu Jitsu teammates 😈) It simply means I achieve goals in the gentlest way possible and I let your muscles, soft tissues, and energetic pathways tell me what they need.

Consider your soft tissues as a non- Newtonian fluid; think ooblek or imagine a bar of chocolate. The more force you use with ooblek, the harder it resists, and with the bar of chocolate too much force will actually break it. With both of these if you simply apply slow steady pressure and respond to what you are feeling,, you can sink all the way through them. With the chocolate bar, if you are consistent and focus on the entire bar, you can melt the entire thing evenly. I don’t want to make you fight me or worse break, rip, or tear something which is why I adjust my pressure based on how you are responding. It’s not that my technique isn’t going deep, it’s that going deep doesn’t have to hurt or be uncomfortable, it can be slow and soothing.

My entire approach to being a body and energy worker can be summed up as “I work with you not on you”.

Yes, I have the official title of licensed massage therapist and have maintained that label since 2011, but I am so much more than that. I call what I do massage therapy because it is a gateway term. It is safe and comfortable and most people have some sort of idea of what massage therapy is. However, I also hold the labels of certified Thai massage practitioner, an Usui Reiki level 3 practitioner, and a JSJSP which stands for Jin Shin Jyutsu Student Practitioner. I practice yoga on a daily basis and am working towards a yoga “teacher” training. I study and train Judo and Jiu Jitsu. I actively work on my mental health and self reflect taking the time to understand and try different coping mechanisms and approaches to life. I am a mom and a wife, a best friend, a daughter and a teammate. I am fascinated by kinesiology and how things are interconnected and incorporate all of this into showing up for you I put my hands on you.

My approach is curious, gentle, sensitive, present, and non judgmental meeting you where you are at that moment in time and supporting you in doing the same providing insight and education based on what I feeling.

So yes, I am a licensed massage therapist, but I am not just a massage therapist.

The older I get, the more I realize that filling my cup rarely comes from the big things. It’s music that makes me smile, a good conversation, a quiet moment, a walk outside, or simply giving myself permission to rest.

This weekend, I hope you make time for whatever brings you back to yourself. Your cup doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s. It just needs to nourish you.

Suppose you had to pick one of these cups to drink from this weekend, which would you choose? What do you need the most?

Most people expect a job title when they ask
what you do.

This is the answer that feels truest.

I don’t rush bodies.
I don’t force change.
I don’t try to fix people.

I slow things down enough for the body to
speak and for someone to finally feel safe
being fully human.

When people feel seen, heard, and cared for,
their bodies remember how to let go.

That’s what I do for a living.
