Today, our amazing resident, Karl Ruttan, shared his powerful memories of being at the scene of the 9/11 attacks.

September 11, 2001, is a day forever etched into our nation’s history—and into the hearts of those who witnessed its devastation firsthand. We are honored that Karl trusted us with such a personal and moving part of his story.

🍭 Candy, Root Beer Floats & a Trip Down Memory Lane! 🍭

We took a sweet little trip to Schimpff's Confectionary, and it was a treat in every way! ❤️

Our residents watched candy-making demonstrations, explored the museum, and had plenty of fun reminiscing about the good ole days when soda shops were the place to be. 🥤🍬

And what better way to finish the day than with an old-fashioned root beer float?! 🍨

A little candy, a lot of memories, and plenty of smiles—now THAT’S our kind of outing! 🍭❤️

Today, three of our incredible residents - Dr Segal, Brother Ward O’Connell and Don Kissling- were honored at the 15th Annual Gold Standard of Optimal Aging Ceremony, hosted by University of Louisville Trager Institute!

This special award celebrates adults age 85 and older who continue to lead engaged, flourishing lives and inspire others with their zest for life! Marcia, Brother Ward, and Don truly embody what it means to age optimally through their active lives, positive spirits, and many accomplishments.

We were thrilled to watch them receive this well-deserved recognition and couldn’t be prouder!

Last week, Treyton Oak Towers was excited to serve as the location for the Aging Life Care Conference presented by Diversified Life Care Partners! We heard from speakers from across the Midwest for a day of learning, connecting, and sharing valuable information.

Of course, we couldn’t let everyone visit without taking them up to see our beautiful rooftop patio! Our guests loved the views and getting a glimpse of what makes life at Treyton Oak Towers so special.

🌟 Resident Spotlight: Dr. Morris Weiss 🌟

At 93 years old, Dr. Morris Weiss has led a remarkable life filled with medicine, service, family and adventure.

Inspired by his father, who was Louisville’s first cardiologist, Dr. Weiss went on to practice cardiology for 60 years before retiring just three and a half years ago. His family helped raise funds for Jewish Hospital, making healthcare an important part of his family’s legacy.

During the Vietnam War, Dr. Weiss served for two years as a physician in the U.S. Army. Outside of medicine, his love of history and archaeology led him to work as an archaeologist for 18 seasons, visit more than 20 countries and author three books.

Dr. Weiss is the father of three sons and helped raise six boys altogether. His lifelong dedication to caring for others, exploring the world and continuing to learn is truly inspiring!

Our residents had a wonderful time at the Kentucky State Fair yesterday! 🎡 From exploring the exhibits to enjoying all the sights, sounds, and fair favorites, it was a fun-filled day from beginning to end. We love getting out, staying active, and experiencing everything our community has to offer! 💚

Tonight, our Treyton Oak Towers kitchen team prepared and served a delicious meal at Gilda's Club Louisville🍽️

Gilda's Club provides free support and community for individuals and families impacted by cancer. Many of our residents have found friendship and support there, so we were grateful for the opportunity to give back and serve as tonight’s meal host!

A big thank you to our kitchen team for all their hard work!! Everybody there said the food was phenomenal!

Yesterday, the kids from Home of the Innocents came to spend time with our residents, and their monthly visits are always one of our favorite days!

Our residents love getting the chance to connect with the children and enjoy fun activities together. This time, we colored, played limbo, and visited the turtle garden! 🐢🎨

So many sweet moments and smiles—we’re already looking forward to their next visit! 💚
