Membership Matters: Better context for payer conversations.

Reimbursement can shape everything from contract negotiations to an organization’s ability to sustain access to care. Knowing how your rates compare can make those conversations more informed.

NAATP’s reimbursement benchmark reports give members market intelligence on commercial insurance rates across key levels of care, including the National Insurance Reimbursement Benchmarking Report and newly released state reports for California, Florida, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.

The value is not simply in having the numbers. It is understanding what they mean and how to use them.

On August 13, NAATP CEO Marvin Ventrell and Third Horizon President Greg Williams will walk through the reports and show providers how to interpret the benchmarks, evaluate current contracts and reimbursement offers, and bring stronger context into payer conversations.

It is one way NAATP membership helps providers move from guesswork to a clearer understanding of the market around them.

Congratulations to Dr. Annie Peters, NAATP's Director of Research & Education and Executive Director of FoRSE, who has been selected to present a TED-style talk at the Behavioral Health Outcomes Consortium (BHOC26) this September.

From Measurement to Meaning: Insights from NAATP's FoRSE SUD Treatment Outcomes Program explores one of the field's most important questions: not whether to measure outcomes, but how to measure them in ways that meaningfully improve care.

Drawing on insights from NAATP's FoRSE initiative, Dr. Peters will examine how treatment organizations are implementing measurement-based care, the outcome measures currently being used, where operational challenges arise, and what it will take to move toward more standardized, comparable, patient-centered, and clinically useful outcomes across the addiction treatment field.

We're proud to see NAATP's work helping shape the national conversation around outcomes, quality improvement, and evidence-informed addiction treatment.

When a payer tells you, “This is what we pay everyone,” how do you evaluate that claim?

For many treatment providers, payer negotiations have historically taken place with limited visibility into the broader market.

On August 13, NAATP CEO Marvin VentrThird Horizond Williamsgreg-d-williams will move beyond an overview of the reimbursement benchmark reports and explore practical provider scenarios, including:

• Responding to a limited annual rate increase
• Evaluating whether to enter another payer network
• Understanding how payer market share affects negotiating leverage
• Preparing for a contract conversation before it begins
• Using commercial rate data to assess a new market or service expansion

NAATP was proud to be part of the 2026 Recovery.com Marketing Summit, where treatment providers, consultants, and industry partners gathered to explore digital marketing, SEO, AI, and the evolving role of outcomes in communicating quality care.

NAATP Membership and Marketing Director Zina Rodriguez attended to strengthen NAATP's own marketing and communications, bring new insights back to our members, and explore future collaboration with the Recovery.com team.

Outcomes emerged as a consistent theme throughout the summit. Speakers emphasized that meaningful outcomes data can help providers connect clinical results to quality care and differentiate themselves in an increasingly crowded marketplace.

That conversation continued during the panel, "Outcomes and Marketing: From Admissions Funnel to Evidence of Care," featuring Annie Peters, PhD, Executive Director of FoRSE. Annie shared why standardized measurement matters and how FoRSE is helping providers build capacity for measurement-based care while contributing to a shared evidence base for addiction treatment. More information about FoRSE and its work is available through the link in the comments.

We were also glad to see NAATP members on the program, including Wade Muhlhauser of Plugged In Recovery and Grace Adams of Release Recovery, who spoke on the summit's social media and influencer panel.

Thank you to Recovery.com for bringing the field together for important conversations about quality, visibility, and the future of addiction treatment.
