The rib cage needs a full 360 expansion for the thoracic cavity to function well. If any part of the rib cage is restricted or compressed – whether in the front, back or sides – the body can’t maintain proper support and mechanics.When that support fails, the body compensates by overusing other muscles and altering movement patterns.
