Gwen Bartran Counseling & Coaching Moving beyond the crisis stage of healing into the “what now” stage. Life beyond trauma.

03/30/2026

Just wanted to take a moment to talk about the direction my practice is headed. I have worked with so many people in the acute phase of dealing with childhood trauma - processing the memories and the emotions. Lately though, I have been seeing a lot of people who are in the "afterward" stage - they have processed a big chunk of the memories and experiences, but they still feel like they are a little lost. They are searching for meaning beyond trauma. So while I still work with the early stages of trauma healing, more and more I am working the "now what" stage. What does life look like beyond the healing work. Who am I now? What do I want my life to look like moving forward? These are such important questions, and I'm here to help find the answers!

Dr. Mara Mather said: "Our research indicates that slow-paced breathing exercises combined with HRV biofeedback training decrease plasma levels of Aβ. In healthy adults, higher plasma Aβ levels are associated with higher risk of AD as well as cardiovascular death." That's exciting news! Read the full article here:
