There is a moment where you hand a kid the book you loved at their age, and you have to sit there and wait.
Sometimes it lands. Sometimes they get forty pages in, shrug, and go outside. That is the risk of the whole thing.
But every so often you catch them reading it in the back seat, and it becomes theirs instead of yours. The copy comes back with a cracked spine and dog-eared corners and you cannot even be annoyed about it.
Happy Book Lovers Day. Whether it is a chapter at bedtime or the same picture book for the ninth night running, reading with your kids is a good use of an August evening. ๐
What did you pass down that actually stuck?
